Self Binding Receiving Blanket {my favorite free tutorial}

The last few weeks a little fire has been lit under me, since deciding it was time to figure out how to do embroidery applique I've been on a little kick! Figuring out and learning new designs, and it's really fun to do!
The other day Kathleen and I made this fun little Self Binding Receiving Blanket, I have a free tutorial here, then I added the embroidery applique and I love how it turned out!
I used Snuggles by Moda Fabrics for the center of the blanket and Fox Trails by Doohikey Designs for Riley Blake fabrics for the back (green) and the applique. I love it!
Fabrics are available at Fat Quarter Shop here and here.

  4. This is so cute!!! What machine are you using to do the embroidery with? I am in the market for a new one and wondering if I should look at machines with embroidery functions ;)

  7. Just to make sure I understood- Did you applique first or construct the blanket first? Where did you get the applique? I am always looking for great monograms! Thanks for all of your great ideas! I see myself doing this very soon!
