Disney's new movie Planes & $100 Fandango Gift Card Give-Away

A couple months back my husband and I took our kids to California to go to Disneyland and California Adventure!
We loved all of both parks but I'm pretty sure Chesney's favorite was Radiator Springs Racers! She LOVED it, along with everyone else there! :)
While we were visiting Disneyland we heard about the new Disney movie Planes. We loved Cars so I'm sure we're going to love Planes!
Today I have the opportunity to tell you a little about some of the characters in the new movie Planes, I've taken some time over the last few days and read all about the characters, it's fun to read about them and relate them to people I know, like my children!
One of the characters in Planes is Roper, Roper reminds me of my daughter Chesney. Roper is funny but firm in his dealings with the race and racers. This totally fits Chesney, she likes to go have fun with her friends but boy oh boy if someone does something she thinks isn't right, watch out! This can be a challenging personality to deal with, but maybe I have a little bit of that in myself so we seem to get along...okay. :)
Chug is another one of the characters in the movie, his characteristics remind me of my baby Brayden. He's a guys guy who plays hard and has a big personality. As I type this post Brayden is on the floor playing hard. He's a fun little guy but wow, he's so much different than a little girl! He's been a challenge for me because he's so rough but I think we'll keep him!
We are so excited to see the new Disney movie Planes, and maybe someday we'll be taking our kids back to Disneyland and visiting the Planes characters.

  1. I challenged my children by enroll ing them into many activities when they wer young and let them pick the ones that they wanted to continue with. I chose one other activity and made them do it to encourage them that they can't just give up on something because they did nt like it Life is not always fair and some things are not to our liking.

  2. "How do you challenge your children to follow their dreams?"
My husband and I let them try things they might fail at because they have desire to give them a go. We encourage them to be dedicated and to give it their best effort even if it is challenging. We are firm about not quitting or giving up halfway through because it is harder than they thought, but we are also ready to weep with them if they are disappointed about the outcome. We rejoice when they accomplish a step closer to their goal, and push them to go farther than they may have started out to go.

  3. I encourage my kids by giving them plenty of positive comments about their interest and accomplishments. I also try new hobbies and interest of my own which encourages them.

  4. You let them make mistakes so they can learn. Now they ate both grown, educated , on their own, self sufficient and still enjoy our company. I cannot ask for more but it was a challenging road.

  5. I encourage their interests, challenge them to try new things, go to new and interesting places, and celebrate their accomplishments.

  7. My kids are all grown but we encouraged them by trying to buy "tools" instead of toys. Tools can be musical instruments, sewing machines, paints, cameras, wrenches/hammers/screwdrivers etc. When one of my daughters showed an interest in baking, we took a cake decorating class together. I have a daughter that is a nurse, one is a photographer, one is in the military, and my son is an auto tech.

  8. My husband and I allowed our children to try just about everything! My daughter played boys ice hockey, she's a junior black belt, played 3 instruments in high school, played field hockey, and soft ball in high school and college - due to injuries she can no longer peruse her athletics - she's going to school to be an athletic trainer! My son always loved planes as a boy we would take him to the local small airport to watch the planes take off and land - he started working at that airport when he was 16 mowing the grass, went to school for aviation got his masters in business and now 10 yrs later he is the head ground school flight instructor! Looking back I would say it is all about planting the seeds when they are little and encouraging them along the way. I'm a proud momma!

  9. We encourage our children to try anything they are interested in. For example, our oldest has enjoyed such activities as student government, writing a novel, youth city council and playing and teaching piano. Another daughter had a desire to run track and we fully supported her in that endeavor. We've found the best way to support them is to say, "ok, you want to do this, now let's figure out how." We work together to accomplish their goal.

  10. I encourage my kids to try new things all the time. The more experiences they have, the easier it is to face challenges. We've seen that dreams often are at the end of a difficult journey. We want them to be able to persevere.

However, I do try to inspire them and open them up to new interests by taking them on day trips to local museums, concerts, and storytelling events at the library. We participate in arts and crafts classes once a month and bake together. I spend every Saturday morning and afternoon with them while my brother and his wife work so we try to make it a fun experience each time!

  61. i think the key is to have them try many things, whether it's in the arts, sports, or intellectual pursuits, and see what they spark to or are good at--even if it's not necessarily what you desire. it's best that they find something that they're passionate about, not what they feel pushed into doing!

  67. I help my kids by opening them up to new opportunities. For example, my son loves playing video games which would sometimes drive me crazy since I would have to yell to get him off of the PS3. So this summer, instead of yelling, I signed him up for a summer computer programming camp for kids at our local University and it’s been awesome! He’s programmed his own ninja video game and has found something that he truly loves and wants to continue learning about!
