Okay, we're ready of the 8th block in the 30 Day of Sewing Quilt Blocks.
Today's block is:
Bachelor's Puzzle
Cutting:
(This block will finish at 12" square)
White fabric - 4 - 3 1/2"x3 1/2" squares
4 - 3 7/8"x3 7/8" squares (draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on these)
Purple fabric - 4 - 3 7/8"x3 7/8" squares (draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of two of these)
Gray fabric - 4 3 7/8"x3 7/8" squares
Sewing:
Half square triangle blocks
Place one purple and one gray 3 7/8" square together, right sides together.
Stitch 1/4" on both sides of the draw line.
Cut on the draw line.
Press toward the darker fabric.
Repeat, make a total of 4 gray and purple half square triangle blocks.
Repeat the half square triangle process with 2 white and 2 gray 3 7/8" squares, making a total of 4 white and gray half square triangle blocks.
Repeat the half square triangle process with 2 white and 2 purple 3 7/8" squares, making a total of 4 white and purple half square triangle blocks.
Sew one white white and gray half square triangle unit, one purple and gray half square unit, one white 3 1/2" square and one white and gray half square triangle unit together.
Press.
Sew two of these, exactly the same.
Sew one white 3 1/2" square, two purple and white half square triangle units, and one purple and gray half square triangle block together.
Press.
Sew two of these, exactly the same.
Sew the four block units together.
Press.
That block turned out so cute! It's always so much fun to see how it looks in a quilt, and I think this one creates a really cool pattern.
To make this into a 96" square quilt, make 64, 12" blocks.
Fabrics required for that size are:
White fabric - 5 5/8 yards
Gray fabric - 3 1/8 yards
Purple fabric - 3 1/8 yards

I love this series you are doing. I am so glad you show the blocks laid out in a quilt. The blocks look so different when they are laid out in a quilt - something that is hard for me to envision. :)
