How to: Quarterfoil Star Quilt Bock- 30 Days of Sewing Quilt Blocks- Star Version

Hey there! Are you ready for another star quilt block tutorial? I have been doing so good at posting the tutorials every day, until this past weekend. It was a super duper busy weekend, I didn't even have time to turn my computer on, so I'll be sharing a few today. Gotta get caught up!

Today's fun star quilt block is the Quarterfoil Star.


Cutting:
This block will finish at 12"x12" square.

White fabric:
1- 4 1/2"x4 1/2" square
16- 2 1/2"x2 1/2" squares - draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of 8 of these.

Mustard fabric:
8- 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strips
4- 2 1/2"x2 1/2" squares

Teal fabric:
4- 2 1/2"x2 1/2" squares

Sewing:
Place one white 2 1/2" square on the lower left corner of one mustard 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip.
Sew along the diagonal line.
Trim 1/4" on the outside of the draw line.
Press toward the darker fabric.
Place one white 2 1/2"x square on the lower right corner of the mustard 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip.
Sew along the diagonal line.
Trim 1/4" on the outside of the draw line.
Press toward the darker fabric.

Sew one flying geese unit, one 2 1/2"x4 1/2" mustard strip, one 4 1/2" white square, one 2 1/2"x4 1/2" mustard strip and one flying geese unit.
Press.

Sew one white 21/2" square, one teal 2 1/2" square, one mustard 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip, one teal 2 1/2" square and one white 2 1/2" square.
Press.

Repeat, make two of these units exactly the same.

Sew one mustard 2 1/2' square, one white 2 1/2" square, one white 2 1/2" square and one mustard 2 1/2" square.
Press.

Repeat, make two of these units exactly the same.

Sew the two rows from the previous two steps together.

Press.

Repeat, make two of these units exactly the same.

Sew the three rows together.

Press.

Now, to make this into a 96"x96" quilt you'll need the following fabrics:

Mustard fabric:
4 7/8 yards

White fabric:
5 yards

Teal fabric:
1 3/8 yards

This is the cool quilt that can be made from this quilt block! I love it, I love the secondary white blocks that come to life!
