Custom Machine Quilting - A Fun Border Idea!

Usually I don't add borders to my own quilts. However, not that there is anything wrong with a border. Jan made this adorable scrappy quilt and brought it to me for some custom machine quilting. When I got ready to machine quilt this quilt I couldn't help but think how cool it would be to extend the pattern out into that solid white border, I mean, it was practically screaming to me!

I love the subtle pop of detail that the machine quilting added. The pattern itself has a lot going on so it really didn't need some major quilting, just something simple to add a tiny bit of detail.

I love the final result! Thanks for letting me machine quilt your cool quilt Jan!

  1. Thank you for sharing your border idea. I often browse your website for ideas on how to quilt something but I rarely duplicate it. I have to stay within my ability group ya know. Thanks for all of your wonderful inspiration and weekly linkies. I am a silent follower most of the time.

  3. Love this! I'm starting to think more about using solids in quilts and lots of white space. Definitely bookmarking this border idea for future reference. I think it's a beautiful way to add some unexpected detail and make a sometimes-boring area very un-boring.

  4. Lovely and fits perfect with your design and that of the quilt. I often treat the border separate, but sometimes having the inner quilting design following out onto the border is perfect.
