Beginner's Guide to Free-Motion Quilting ~ Some sneak peeks!

A few days ago I was browsing through photos on my computer. Browsing through all of the pictures that I have yet to share with you! I really wish I could have you all come over to the studio and just share every quilt and every picture with you, it'd be so much fun. But.... since that's probably not going to happen....ever ..... I thought I'd share a couple fun pictures with you. 

The photo above, you may recognize from the cover of my new book, Beginner's Guide to Free-Motion Quilting. That quilt is still far away, on vacation, I think I had forgotten how much I love that quilt! It's a fun quilt, it's actually pretty simple to make, and here's what's so cool about it; the pattern for the quilt and the machine quilting techniques to quilt the quilt just like mine are all in the book. Sweet huh!

This is a another sneak peek from my book. This quilt is another favorite, the pattern and machine quilting techniques are also in the book. YAY! I really love the colors of this quilt and maybe my favorite thing about this quilt is that it can easily be made for a boy or girl!

Flower Girl Quilt ~ Fat Quarter Shop

The girls over at Fat Quarter Shop are always sewing and kitting up something great! This darling Flower Girl Quilt is one of their new quilt kits. So cute isn't it!

I custom machine quilted this darling version of Flower Girl as a sample for Fat Quarter Shop. It was a lot of fun to machine quilt and give each of those flowers a little bit more detail. :)

The quilt is made from Marmalade fabrics and the darling fabric, pattern or quilt kit will be available for in October, you can pre-order it today at Fat Quarter Shop.

Boxy Quilt

Teresa has been finishing up her UFO's this year. I think it's been fun to machine quilt for her and see what she's been getting finished.She brought this darling quilt to be quilted and asked that I machine quilt flowers all over it. Since there are roses in the fabric I went with a similar quilting pattern. I really love how it turned out.

Machine Quilting Cathedral Windows

Ashley pieced this darling quilt. I really love the pattern. When she brought me the quilt she asked me to machine quilt Cathedral Windows in the ivory blocks. I love the idea and I'm so glad she suggested it. I absolutely love the curvature it gave to the quilt.

I had originally intended on quilting feather medallions in the prints, but when I began quilting I decided that it just seemed so much more appropriate to quilt flowers, I'm so glad I changed my mind, I do love, love, love feathers but I thought that the flowers just made this quilt. :)

I continued the flower design out into the border and I just love it!

Quilted Handbag

A fun thing about my job is seeing how creative you all are, Tina always has darling ideas, like this quilt and this quilt. A while back she brought me a couple pieces of fabric and asked me to machine quilt the fabric. She had big plans for these two pieces of fabric.After I quilted them she took them home and came up with this darling bag!

She just created her own pattern, seriously so creative!Thanks for letting me share your bag Tina! :)

Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie

(instagram photo)So, here's a little something you may not know about me.... I HATE chocolate! I know I'm crazy, don't come and try to kill me, I swear there is probably something wrong with me!Anyways, I don't hate candy or sweet treats! I LOVE them. My husband is always teasing me because the more sugar the better. I really love things like Sno-cones and slurpees so the other day my mom gave me the idea to make a Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie!
So I did and it was heavenly, here is how I made it;10 fresh strawberries10 large chunks watermelon2 cups ice1/4 cup sugar2 tbsp lemon juice
Throw it all in the blender, mix until smooth, enjoy!It's heavenly!

Baby Girl Nursery Decor

My older sister is expecting a baby girl any day now, and we're so excited for her. She's the sister who is excellent at public speaking (unlike me) very business oriented (unlike me) not at all shy (unlike me) and not so crafty. :)So my younger sister, my mom and I took it upon ourselves to make her some nursery decor, as a surprise, it should be arriving in the mail any minute now. I can't wait to hear her reaction!Whitnee, my younger sister, pieced that darling quilt, she used a few Sew Stitchy Charm Packs and made the quilt with cheater hexagons, like we did in this tutorial. Those grey things are the bumper pads, and then Whitnee made those cute letters for her name to go on her dresser and the T wall art for her wall. Her nursery is going to be so dang cute!

We also made her some of our favorite little burp cloths, we have a tutorial for them here.
I love it all and can't wait for our new little niece to arrive! :)
