Kimberly from Fat Quarter Shop has teamed up again with Art Gallery Fabrics and created an adorable, quick quilt pattern, Welded.
Kimberly asked me if I'd join her and make a fun version of this quilt. You know I love Art Gallery Fabrics, and a quick quilt, so I was more than happy to join in!
Kimberly's original version of Welded is pretty scrappy, well, at least scrappy for me. I chose to tone it down and just used four different prints, the Prisma Elements by Art Gallery Fabrics.
This quilt was so fun, and fast to make. the pieces are large so cutting and sewing is really fast. The pattern for this quilt is a free pattern, you can download it here. Kimberly has also created a video tutorial with a few tips to make this quilt even easier, you can check out the video here.
I wanted to keep my quilt simple and crisp, so I chose to machine quilt edge to edge straight lines, They are about 1/2" apart, I used Quilters Dream Poly Deluxe Batting and So Fine! by Superior Threads. I love how this quilt turned out, and the colors are perfect for my new home. :)
Welded Quilt Kits are available for purchase here.

My favorite part is choosing the fabric with piecing being a close second.
ReplyDeleteG.dunn@shaw.ca
Beautiful quilt! Love your version veery much! I love the piecing part the most and adding stitching and appliqué.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is choosing fabrics. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love your simple colour palette and simple quilting you have used on this quilt. Perfect! I think gathering fabrics for a project is my favourite part of quiltmaking.
ReplyDeleteI really like the piecing, once the fabric is chosen, the pattern is in front of me, the best part is putting it all together.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is picking fabrics who doesn't love this? And I love to sew the binding on:-)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, Natalia. I like piecing the best.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite part is piecing the quilt. I love putting it all together. Thanks for the chance to win a gorgeous bundle!
ReplyDeleteI love sewing the blocks together.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I like it all but probably piecing the blocks best.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is piecing although I'm learning to FMQ to that may soon take the lead.
ReplyDeleteI love quilting it all. I used to hate that part, but took a class on domestic machine quilting and have gained confidence. I love to see my quilt come to life when I'm quilting it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is giving it away to a person I love. But I really love piecing it and seeing it come together.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is piecing. It is a true labor of love
ReplyDeleteI love everything about the quilting process since I have a longarm and can do the whole quilt myself. I guess the binding would be my least favorite.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilt making is to first design the pattern (if I am designing my own), and then to finish the top -- I love seeing a design that lived in my head come to life as a pattern and then come to life as a quilt top and turn out even better than imagined!

ReplyDeleteI love how the fabric looks like it was all solids, then printed triangles on it after piecing (even with the seams and triangles going in different directions.) So cool!
ReplyDeleteI love piecing and deciding on fabrics - love to experiment!
ReplyDeletePiecing is my favorite part, love seeing it all come together
ReplyDeleteThe actual quilting is my favorite part....being new to longarming, I am always anxious to load the quilt and try something new.

I loved the colors you used. Would you mind sharing which ones you chose? I looked at the collection, and while I can tell which fabric is the white, I can't quite decide on the blue, grey (matte zirconia?) and dark (jet onyx or sapphire sparkle?). The quilt is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love the whole process from beginning to end, but I guess my very favorite part is deciding on the placement of the blocks within the design.
ReplyDeleteI love matching a pattern to fabric or fabric to a pattern. I also really enjoy hand stitching the binding down as the finishing step because I get to enjoy the quilt up close for the first time.
ReplyDeleteI love piecing but am slowly coming around to love the quilting too.
ReplyDeletePutting it together and seeing the pattern emerge.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is the quilting. I find it relaxing.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is choosing fabrics. But I also love the zen of quarter inch seam piecing. Those art gallery fabrics are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing it all come together. Cutting is my least favorite part, I love seeing the quilting enrich and highlight the piecing. It's such a great hobby.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is the designing. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love designing and pulling fabrics! That really gets my creative juices flowing. I pretty much love all the steps of creating a beautiful quilt : )
ReplyDeleteI have 2 favorite parts...
ReplyDeletechoosing the fabric and sewing on the binding! Everything else just needs to be done lol.
My favorite part is the quilting
ReplyDeleteEvery part is so much fun! Starting a new project is always exciting. But I love quilting the most. Especially now that I have my own longarm! I've finished more quilts in the 6 months since I've had Mimi than I have in the last 2 years!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy picking out the fabric, and sometimes think I spend too much time doing so. My least favorite is the actual quilting, although I'm getting better at it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! My favorite part is choosing the fabrics (does that count?) and my next favorite is piecing.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is designing it or if I have a pattern, choosing the fabric. I enjoy all other aspects, except for making backings. Your fabric coices her are genius. Love the illusion that the triangles were printed on the entire quilt after piecing solids.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the quilt making process is cutting. There's just something about it that makes me happy. And I agree with everything that yomama said about your fabric choices. Brilliant use of these fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI get excited when I put together the fabrics and pattern and start planning and cutting - then when it is all cut, the first few blocks have me feeling great. If there are a lot of blocks - the sameness will get tedious and my enthusiasm wans - then comes the borders - I hate borders - I won't accept anything but a FLAT border and that means a lot of do-overs. Then I have to start thinking about the back. A lot of times my back mirrors the front or I will make an oversized block from the front for the back....so I guess I have no favorite part - just parts that are not as much fun!
ReplyDeleteChoosing fabrics and making the blocks is the most fun for me!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is choosing the fabric and seeing what plus together well. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is seeing how the quilting brings the piecing to life. The next favorite part is putting the label on because that means its FINISHED! Love your cute video and your wonderful color choices.
ReplyDeleteHI, I really like it all>planning, buying, designing, cutting, piecing+quilting! Have even tried to FMQ my own quilts>still working on that-LOL! Thanks for your blog+giveaway too!
ReplyDeletemsstitcher1214@gmail.com
Nice quilt! My favorite parts are piecing and binding....I can't choose one!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! Although I do enjoy piecing, I would have to say binding my quilts is my favorite part, because that means they are almost done, & ready to enjoy! susan430(at)cox(dot)net
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this version! Quilting! Definitely the quilting :)
ReplyDeleteThe binding. Because then It's done! Great quilt!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of "quilting" is making the top or flimsie. The rest is just work to me, however; I love the creativity of the top and using new techniques.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to quilting so my favorite part right now is figuring out the right way to construct the blocks and pieces.
ReplyDeleteSewing the quilt top together is my favorite part of the process. It's like putting a puzzle together--have I chosen the best color and prints for the design I picked. Thanks for your blog with all the quilting ideas. It helps.
ReplyDeleteChoosing the pattern and fabric. 24Tangent@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI really love choosing the fabric and hand stitching the binding. Thank you for a great giveaway. x
ReplyDeletelove your quilt. Thanks for the chance
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is picking the pattern and fabrics, and then cutting, and then sewing individual blocks. The hardest part for some reason, is putting all the blocks together to make the completed top - something about all that fabric!
ReplyDeleteI love hand stitching the binding!!
ReplyDeleteI think that planning the quilt is the most fun. What colors, fabrics, pattern will I use... To me, these are all great questions to try to answer!!
ReplyDeletedetermineddebby at gmail dot com
I love finishing the first block - all the fabrics are cut out and you've got the hang of the pattern, just the sewing to go! x
ReplyDeleteI love piecing the best because, by then all the hard part of deciding what fabric to use is done. Deciding how to quilt now that is another problem. I love the straight lines that you choose. Thanks
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt! I downloaded the pattern, thanks! My favorite part is either giving it to the recipient or taking it out of the drier after washing it. My least favorite part is easier--basting!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is the quilting on my longarm.
ReplyDeleteI love the quilting with my longarm but sometimes, it takes me awhile to put the quilt on, the "how am I going to quilt it" really slows me down.Once I get past the 1st row or so and the "what was I thinking"mindset, I love, love to quilt. Thanks. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful. My favorite part is the quilting. I have a long arm and get excited when I have finished the top and am ready to quilt.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is amazing with the "gotta have it" written and/or quilted all over it! My favorite part of quilting is giving it to someone. I start each project with a person in mind and imagine their reaction when I give it to them. Wish I could send pictures of those events. Just last week I left a well deserving teacher speechless and a disabled man in a wheelchair and his wife in tears. So my joy comes on delivery day because I made someone feel special. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to share.
ReplyDeleteI just love shopping for the perfect fabric.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is actually piecing. That's once all my fabric's cut and ready to sew like mad.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I like each and every part of the quilt process. But, I guess that I would have to say that my favorite part is piecing. Love your version of Welded.
ReplyDeleteI am learning to love every step of the quilting process. I still have a minor dislike of sandwiching, but even that is getting easier with every new tip or trick that I read about.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is the planning. Or the cutting. Or the piecing. Definitely not the basting. Thanks for the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI love piecing! thank you!
ReplyDeletei love the piecesing
ReplyDeleteI like the piecing best and then binding.
ReplyDeleteI would say piecing. dawnm1993(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI love it all, but piecing is exciting because the parts all start coming together.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so glad that you selected the Prisma Elements fabrics! I was wondering what this pattern would look like with them. It's even cuter that I imagined. My favorite part of the making a quilt is the actual quilting part. I also struggle the most with it at times, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
ReplyDeleteI really like the fabrics you chose for this quilt, to me it is soft yet bold and definitely would be a great cuddle quilt on the chilly days ahead of us. My favorite part of quilting is actually cutting the fabrics! Just spend all the time I can on cutting the fabrics and prepping myself for all the seam sewing next. Thank you for sharing this great quilt and the awesome give away! Have a wonderful creative day! brend_ack@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this Prisma collection and what you've done with it! I'm so glad I saw this quilt using this bundle...I'm definitely choosing this bundle to make this quilt! My favorite part of quilting is the piecing. I enjoy the process so much.
ReplyDeleteYour Welded quilt is fabulous! I love your use of the Prisma Elements! The quilt has movement and energy and style!
ReplyDeleteI spend ages searching for the right fabrics for each quilt (so I must like that part) and do enjoy piecing... seeing my vision come together. I'm not a confident quilter, so tend to procrastinate on that phase. I am happy to finish binding my quilts!
I love piecing!
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely addicted to choosing fabrics and patterns. I love to sew, too, but there's something about finding just the right fabric for just the right pattern!! Thanks for the opportunity for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric selection process...then piecing it all together. I love your version of this quilt. I can think of who would love it as a gift! Next project? Thanks for the chance to win.

ReplyDeleteI Love ironing my blocks as I finish them!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is machine quilting. I'm not great at it, but I love that it means my quilt is almost finished.
ReplyDeleteC_dragon (at) earthlink (dot) net
I really like the piecing part the best. I enjoy seeing it all come together.
ReplyDeleteI like choosing fabric, and sewing on the binding. Thanks for the giveaway, and I love your quilt!
ReplyDeleteIn the past I would have said piecing, however after receiving my long arm about four years ago, today I would have to say the quilting process is my favorite. I still feel like a "greenie" quilter on the long arm and am in awe of all of the beautiful quilting in todays quilts :D
ReplyDeletepiecing everything together is my favorite part of the quilting process
ReplyDeleteerin2470@hotmail.com
I love designing and picking out the fabric. Piecing and quilting (on a long arm) are fun, but the binding is my least favorite. I just want To be done at that point.
ReplyDeleteThis blog hop is wonderful. It demonstrates just how big a role fabric choice plays in the quilt making process. You may think you don't care for a pattern when it's really the fabric choices.
ReplyDeleteI like different aspects of the quilting process for different reasons. If the quilting is going well, I like that the best as it can transform the quilt.
ReplyDeleteYou are such an inspiration - thanks.
Based on the number of projects I start ... I'd say starting a project is my favorite thing! :) Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love picking out the fabrics, its so fun to lay it all out and see what goes with what. thank you
ReplyDeletesewfabrics@outlook.com
My favorite part is start a new project and piecing all the blocks!
ReplyDeleteStitching the binding down by hand after the quilting is done is my favorite part of making a quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love the creative process of quilting from beginning to end. I love choosing the right fabrics to go with the design. Quilting takes me to a creative and wonderful place!!! Love this new line! Rchianese26@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI guess the part I like the best is piecing the completed blocks together to see how the quilt actually looks. You see it in your mind, but sometimes reality doesn't see it the same. That is the life changing moment of the quilt. It either becomes a quilt or a UFO.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is quilting, machine quilting
ReplyDeleteI lov every part of the stage when quilting but the most relaxing part for me is hand quilting... I love the way it looks and feels (well, not when I poke myself lol!!)
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric choice part, then piecing
ReplyDeleteI like the designing / picking fabric best. I like binding too, because it means my quilt is finished.
ReplyDeletejen dot barnard at btinternet dot com
I love piecing the blocks. I find it very relaxing to spend time at my machine.
ReplyDeleteCall me crazy, but I love looking through patterns to find just the right one. So much inspiration out there!
ReplyDeletebasaran.family@rogers.com
My favorite part is piecing the top together.

ReplyDeletenikilsend(at)outlook(dot)com
My favorite part is piecing. I love seeing little pueces of fabric become something large and gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of making a quilt is piecing it together because you finally get to see how your choices mesh into one block, then into rows and finally into a quilt. ktsquiltdreams ATgmail DOTcom
ReplyDeleteHi there Natalia,
ReplyDeleteMy favourite part of quilting is designing blocks/quilts, then doing fabric pulls from my stash! I have more piles of graph paper designs and the fabrics I chose, and yet I still continue to think/ponder/draw/pull every day!!!
Thanks!
Quilty Huggs,
Jacqueline

My favorite part of quilting is matching the perfect quilt with the recipient. Sometimes its the fabric choices and others its the quilt pattern name. It is especially satisfying when the recipient "gets" the connection.
ReplyDeleteHummm, it's hard to choose! I love choosing the fabrics, I love piecing, I love handquilting. I guess the handquilting would win above the others, but not by much! sarah@forrussia.org
ReplyDeleteI pretty much love every single part of the quilting process, but I think my favourite is taking it out of the dryer when it's slightly damp, blocking it, and running my hands and eyes over the lovely yummy crinkly texture. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhile I certainly love to shop for fabrics and choose my fabrics, piecing the quilt brings me immense joy. I love creating beautiful items from bits of fabric.
ReplyDeletetushaythreeatyahoodotcom
Choosing the fabrics ranks high, but I think the actual piecing is my favorite part of quiltmaking.
ReplyDeletePutting the quilt together makes me happy.
ReplyDeletePutting the quilt together makes me happy.

ReplyDeleteI love choosing the fabrics and matching them to the pattern I am using x

I love the piecing of a quilt followed by choosing the fabric.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is sewing/piecing together & seeing it becoming what my mind sees! Loooove choosing the fabrics too...
ReplyDeleteChoosing fabrics and making that first test block.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is the look on the face of the person I made the quilt for. It's a memory that is priceless!
ReplyDeleteGetting to use pretty fabrics would be my favorite! Thanks and God bless! ILuvTheEucharist @ aol.com
ReplyDeleteI love cutting the pieces and then piecing them by together!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat design! Beautiful fabrics! I love shopping for fabrics.
ReplyDeleteAwesome giveaway!
usairdoll(at)gmail(dot)com
Your quilt is beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part (after the planning and buying stage which is probably everybody's favorite part) is cutting the fabric. It's so good to see all those neat stacks of fabrics, ready for sewing. And the least favorite part is basting since it's hard on my poor old knees.
I like picking colors and prints. Cutting not so much!
ReplyDeleteDmac5958ataoldotcom
I really like the piecing. Next I would choose hand sewing the binding. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteLove the simple quilting on this!
ReplyDeleteI love a start... Picking fabrics and patterns. And I love a finish cause it shows my husband where I have been for the last few weeks.
ReplyDelete
