Quilt Guild!

I love to be inspired!
Tonight at quilt guild was nothing short of inspiring!
Jill from Jillily Studios was there and shared an amazing trunk show and her new book. Her new book is all about quilt retreats. Family quilt retreats. She makes me want to have one with my family so much. I love that many of the girls in her family aren't originally sewers but because of these retreats they have become sewers. I took lots of pictures but I left my camera in Kathleens' car. I will share more tomorrow but in the meantime you may want to check out Jills blog! You will be inspired!

Modern Quilt Guild in Utah!

I have been stalking the Modern Quilt Guilds. I first heard about them when Julie started talking about starting one in her area. A couple of you even contacted me saying I should start one. But I just don't feel that the time is right for me.
So finally yesterday I saw that there is now a Modern Quilt guild in Salt Lake City! Yay! I will have to drive for about an hour to get there but I don't mind! I'm just so excited!!!

Januarys' Friendship Blocks

Today I finished my exchange blocks for tomorrows guild meeting (it's a miracle, I'm done a day early!) .

This one is made from Essence materials.

This star block, the girls' request was a star. Any yellow star with a blue background. I used a Floating Star and some Attitude Girls materials.
Do you like them?

Quilted Name Tag

Quilt guild is this week! I get so excited for quilt guild! This year  instead of just doing door prizes you have to have your quilted name tag to be eligible to win a prize.
So I spent a couple of hours today making my quilted name tag.

Here's my name tag. I decided to make it as a necklace rather than pinning it on my shirt.
What do you think?

Quilt Guild tonight

Tonight is the night I look forward to all month long! Quilt Guild. I love having a break from the normal routine and attending guild. I love to see the projects that all the other ladies are working on, I love socializing with other quilters and I love to learn new things!
This is one of the friendship blocks that I made this month, it's called Star flower and I made it using materials from Crazy 8 by Sandy Gervais. I really like how it turned out and I can't wait for tonight!

I love quilt guild

These are a few of the reasons that I love going to quilt guild.
*I love to learn from others.
*I love Sew N Tell.
*I love interacting with other quilters.
*I love to be inspired
*I love a break from the normal routine at home.
*I love the energy.
*I love that this year we have had a super awesome president this year who made every single lady in the guild one of these cute bee hive pincushions for their birthday!
Thanks Sherron!!

*I also love to be on time!
When you are on time they do a drawing and give away some great prizes! I won! Wahoo, I won a bottle of Best Press and I love this stuff!

1-10-09

Today I am teaching a little portion at the Long Arm QT's quild about batting so I thought I'd share with you. My favorite batting to quilt with is: Quilters Dream Blend for Machines 70/30 is soft to hug, yet takes the tug! It is made of 70% cleaned natural cotton and 30% fine denier polyester blended in perfect harmony and needlepunched onto an ultralight scrim base. When I started longarm quiting many people suggested using Hobbs 80/20, I used it for a while but was never 100% satisfied with the finish. So after searching I found Qulters Dream. I love it!
My second favorite batting to use is: Dream Green is an Earth-friendly batting that is TRULY Green. This soft, cozy batting is made completely from recycled plastic bottles - even the packaging is made from recycled products! Available in the select loft, this batting has a light green color. With no scrim or resins, Dream Green meets our highest standards of quality, function and performance. I love that this batting so environmentally friendly. The average batt that I use saves about 7 plastic bottles from going into landfills. So amazing!
