Simply Fat Quarters ~ Spa Quilt ~

Hello there friends, welcome to my portion of the Simply Fat Quarters Showcase. If you're new to the showcase come along and check out the Fat Quarter Shop's brand new book, Simply Fat Quarters
The super talented girls over at Fat Quarter Shop and It's Sew Emma designed this darling book that features some fun quilts. Every quilt in this book is made from fat quarters.
I pieced and quilted one of the darling quilts from this book, Spa Quilt, for myself and I love how it turned out. :)
Above is the original version, very pretty in blues, below is my version. Of course it's brights, I love brights. :)
One of the awesome things about this book is every single pattern in the book contains layouts for four sizes, Crib, Lap, Twin and King. I made my version of the Spa Quilt in twin and I love it! It was actually a pretty simple quilt to make! :)
Of course I have to share a close up of my machine quilting. :)

Would you like to win a copy of Simply Fat Quarters and a kit to make my version of the Spa Quilt? Courtesy of Fat Quarter Shop. Leave a comment and tell me what your favorite size of quilt to make is. Baby, Twin, Full, Queen, or King?
Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you a little secret about this great book, do you see my name in the picture above, yes, I was lucky enough to machine quilt all of the darling quilts in this book! :) Yes, I'm still blushing :)

  1. I would love a copy of this book. I should say queen size quilts are my favorite size as I really make a lot of them - but couch sizes go so much faster!

  2. I like to make twin or lap size quilts. But, I am needing to make a king sized quilt for our bed! :-)

  3. I love the baby size. I just think it is one special because it has a baby intended as the recipient. Two because they aren't large so it is a satisfying short project :)

  4. I tend to make lap or twin size quilts, mostly because I quilt them on a brother sewing machine and would have trouble otherwise. I really need to make some queen size quilts thought, since that's what my bed is. Some day soon I hope :) Beautiful quilt BTW. I love the bright look of it.

  5. I have to say that baby quilts are my favorite - a little snippet of fun! Thanks so much for a chance to win!

  6. I like the spa quilt in the book, but I like yours a 100% better! I love the styling of the quilt and your machine quilting is gorgeous! My favorite size to make... hmm :) I should say baby quilt because it's the fastest to finish, but now that I made a twin size I might just vote for that one. Even though it was a wrestle to quilt it on my machine :)

  7. Thanks for the opportunity to win this quilt! I love to make queen sized quilts because I know the recipient will truly appreciate my time, efforts, and love put into each and every one. Smaller quilts, for instance, crib and twins do finish so much faster!!

  11. Definitely baby or lap size. I still get freaked out trying to make large items evenly shaped.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I like making baby quilts just because I love babies! Love the spa quilt with the bright colors.

    ReplyDelete
  13. My favorite size of quilt to make is a full size quilt, or a large lap size. I want one that will be big enough for 2 to snuggle under on the couch, be able to pull it all the way up to your chin, and still have your feet covered.

  14. I hardly ever make a quilt as a gift for an adult that is smaller than twin size, I want to be sure they can wrap up in it! For the kids once they are past the baby size I make lap quilts for the same reason. I' d love this book and kit Natalia. Congratulations on the beautiful work!

  15. Love the quilting! I like to make lap to full size but love wall hangings too!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Since I'm a newbie at quilting, I'm going to say I love baby quilts! Although I can't wait to graduate to something bigger :) Thanks for the chance to win! Fingers crossed ...

  17. I like to make baby or lap quilts. This book is just what I need for all of the fat quarters I have accumulated. Thanks for a chance to win!

  18. So far I've only made small quilts, but my goal is to make a King Size Quilt!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I like making baby quilts because I can usually finish them in a reasonable amount of time, but I like lap size since I can use them.! Looks like a great book and I love the bright colors you used in your quilt!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Twin is my fave -- I can get it done myself without sending away for quilting.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Your quilting is amazing!! Love that design! This quilt reminds me of those wind twirlers that you hang on your front porch. FUN! I usually make lap quilts BUT I have just bought a second hand mid-arm so am hoping to go bigger...once I learn how to use it that it! Thanks for the chance to win this lovely book!

  22. Wow, your quilt is beautiful! I am sorry, I don't really have a favorite size quilt to make - it just really depends on the type of quilt and the reason I am making it! Right now, I am working on a twin, a queen, a lap, and two wallhangings! That's what comes from having too many ideas in my brain and not enough time to get them all out!

    ReplyDelete
  23. My favorite size of quilt to make is a great lap quilt around 60 x 72

    ReplyDelete
  24. I love your version in the brights! I love to work with brighter fabrics, they make me feel happy. I like to make large queen size quilts for my bed and like would like to make twin size for my kids beds. I am still fairly new to quilting, so I haven't made too much yet. I am getting there though!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I've never made a quilt, so I guess I would start with a crib sized quilt!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I just received my first sewing machine ever in August and have just finished making an apron. My next project will be a quilt. As for size, I'm going to start off with the lap size and see how I do. Would love to win this book and learn more

  27. Queen-sized quilts is what I can make and quilt. My sewing machine cannot handle a king but that is ok because I can only handle queen-sized quilt myself. Thank you for sharing your pictures of your new book with us. I would be so honored to be able to win a copy of your book and then be able to make a new queen-sized quilt for myself.

  28. I would love a copy of this book! All of the sneaky peeks I've seen have been so tempting! I'd love to make this quilt in a queen size---I find it the most useful at my houseful of men. If I make a throw size quilt, they complain that it isn't long enough! Thanks for the chance to win!

  29. Hello from Minnesota! Your quilt is gorgeous and SO my colors. :) My favorite size to make are minis...but that's not on the list so I'd have to day baby because I'm a beginner and the throat of my machine (as well as my skill set!) is tiny.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hi all the way from Brazil! I'm a beginner quilter and have made two queen sizes so far. But I think baby-size would be easier! :) Thanks for the opportunity to win this wonderful book!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Super cute, quilt! My favorite size quilt to make is twin size. I would love to own a copy of this book. Thank you for the opportunity.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I actually already have a copy of the book but I'd love to win a copy for my mom too. Of course, I'd probably keep the quilt kit....terrible, I know! I personally love making BIG quilts. Atleast a twin size but ideally queen or king. The bigger the better! :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I love your quilt and quilting! I love to make baby or lap sized quilts, but I'm hoping as I get better at it, I'll make larger ones as well.

    ReplyDelete
  34. While I love making larger quilts for myself and friends, baby quilts are my favorite. I can whip them up so much quicker, and they're so much fun! :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Lap quilts are my favorite size to make as they're easier to manipulate in my machine! However, very soon I am going to tackle a twin sized!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Love the book. My go to size is always twin. Easy for me to handle.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I've only made a few baby quilts so far, but I'm working on a twin for the first time right now. I love your bright take on the spa quilt!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  39. I like making full sized quilts, smaller are useful, too!

    ReplyDelete

I like to make lap/twin size quilts!

  47. So far I've made alot of Baby quilts and just completed my first large quilt which is probably considered a lap quilt size. I'd love to do a queen sized quilt as a gift for each of my boys. And some day I'd love to make a king sized quilt for our own bed, but I think the queen and king might be a few years yet.

I'd say my favorite though would be either the baby or lap sized quilts since I know I can handle those right now.

    ReplyDelete
  48. So far, I've been too chicken to make anything larger then a baby or lap quilt, but I love the idea of full sized quilts. It would be the perfect size to curl up under and it would fit my bed.

  52. I make quilts for charity and baby or lap size are what I do mostly. I made one oversized King for my son at his request, and found it a real struggle to deal with that size - could not find enough floor space to spread it out! It was expensive to have quilted as well. Won't be doing that again...

    ReplyDelete
  53. I make mostly lap quilts which I guess are like "short twin" size. I also love to make baby quilts.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I tend to lean more towards the Twin size, then I don't feel overwhelmed. But I would love to make a queen or king eventually for a cute bed quilt, I have plenty on my couches and chairs.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I love to make baby quilts. Seems like every time I turn around, another family member or friend is pregnant!

Thanks for the chance to win. I love your quilt and the beautiful quilting.

  60. I'd love to add this book to my library. I have lots and lots of fat quarters that could use a home in a quilt. Baby size or throw size is my favorite mostly because they are finished faster than the larger ones. Thanks for participating in the tour (and quilting all those quilts).

    ReplyDelete
  61. Mostly I make full size quilts, but lately have been making some twins for kids going to college and for charity.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Thanks for participating in this. I make lots of King and Queen quilts but lap quilts certainly are more fun and fast.

  63. I love a twin size--I think it's perfect for napping! (I don't really understand who fits in a throw (50 X 60) size except kids!)
The more I see of this book, the more I'd love to win a copy of it, and your kit in a twin size would be like icing on the cake!

  67. What a beautiful quilt! I make mostly lap sized quilts. I give most of them away to my family and we are all very tall, so I tend to make those lap sized quilts a little longer than usual. I also tend to buy a lot of fat quarter bundles, so lap size is perfect for my stash!

    ReplyDelete
  68. My favorite is baby sized as they are easier to manage and I always seem to know someone having a baby.

    ReplyDelete
  69. My favourite quilt size to make is lap or twin. Big enough for most to use but not so big I have trouble finishing. Thanks for the chance to win a great book.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Love your version of the Spa Quilt! The brites really seem to give it extra movement! My favorite size to make (the size I make most often) is probably queen, but baby quilts are fun because they work up so fast and you get to use such fun fabrics that just aren't acceptable in a queen size! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  71. I love the Baptist Fan quilting!! And yes, I would love a copy of this book!~ I generally make Full size quilts and finding conversions from lap quilts is often very hard to do. Your quilt looks like a very fun one to start with. Thanks for the chance!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I tend to make twin to full sized quilts. Thanks for sharing and for the chance at your giveaway.

  80. I would have to say I like making a large throw or twin size (perfect for kids) . . . with the thought that the quilt will get plenty of snuggle time as the child grows, until the quilt is worn and supper soft. (Kids still snuggle up with a comfy quilt, even in warm Florida weather! Almost like a big hug.) Would love to win this book and kit!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Congratulations on quilting the beautiful quilts featured in this book! The colorful quilt you made is gorgeous, too.
I don't have a favorite size quilt because I will sew whatever needs to be done (or whatever I'm in the mood for). Given that, I think it's really nice that the authors developed patterns for numerous sizes of each quilt in this book. That's very helpful.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I am in the lap mode now making widow sized pieces to hang in the sunlight; they look so like stained glass...

Your brights delight me. I would love a copy of the book; it's gorgeous.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I have made mostly full size however, we now have a queen size bed so I'm making a queen size now. I love your spa quilt and the quilting is beautiful. I bought that stencil to try to quilt it on my dsm. I'll be trying it out soon. Was it hard to do?

    ReplyDelete
  113. WOW, I love your version in brights, especially! I aspire to making a Queen or King someday, but I've only made a baby quilt, a 68" square tree skirt and 2 lap quilt tops.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I love both versions of this quilt, and I already own (and LOVE) the book! I have to say one of my favorite features of the book is that all the patterns are shown in so many sizes!! I would say Lap or Twin are my favorite sizes :)

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  129. I haven't made a lot of quilts, but I would like to think the Queen is the most practical!

    ReplyDelete
  134. Judging by the size of the ones I've actually made, it would appear to be twin. But I'd really like to make some larger ones!

    ReplyDelete
  135. I work full time...so large quilts are hard for me to get made. I enjoy making lap throws. Thanks for the chance to win a copy of the book. Oh..and congratulations on all that beautiful quilting you did.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I like kingsize for my bed, but a little too big for the sofa, so sofa ones need to be smaller really!

    ReplyDelete
  137. I have yet to "graduate" to any larger than twin size quilts. Just learning fmq and for now, quilting a twin size is frustrating enough!

    ReplyDelete
  138. Because I love to see them go together quickly, I'll have to say I love to make baby quilts. Because I am cold natured, I love to cover up with twin quilts. Thank you for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  139. I LOVE your quilt, it is stunning!
I prefer to make baby or twin sized quilts--they finish quickly and I feel like I can see progress has been made every time I sit down at the sewing machine.
A copy of your book would be FAB and a kit for your version of the quilt would be THE MOST!
Thank you for the giveaway, very generous!

    ReplyDelete
  140. I usually make queen quilts because I have a queen bed. I've not starting decorating with quilts yet, so if I like a pattern, I go for the gusto and make a queen. However, I do have two crib size quilts ready for the frame. My brother just became a new grandpa to twins - a boy and a girl. I made two tops from the same fabrics and arrangements them in a different way. The backs are pieced identically. I have a queen quilt on my bed with my last name initial on it - a tutorial from your blog. My friend and cleaning lady is in love with it! I like it so much that I have Christmas fabric to make another queen quilt, probably with the initial and with a border. Your quilting is beautiful. Congrats on your new book,, too! Thank you for teaming up with the Fat Quarter Shop for an awesome giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  141. I love your version of this quilt, that is soooo cute!! Congrats on being the quilter for the book, what a great honor. Hmm, I've been making alot of baby sized quilts the past few years. So I guess it's my favorite size...for now ;)

In Fact I have a bundle of Fat Quarters that I am looking for some inspiration for. Thanks for a chance to win a copy. Janita

LOVE that quilt, and would love to win a kit + the fun book!

Fav quilt size to make: baby-sized. Because you can get away with using supercute fabrics/designs, and THEN you get to snuggle your friends' babies once they're wrapped up in the quilty goodness ;o)

    Thanks for giveaway!
