Block of the Month Quilt

My friend Rachel was the president of our local quilt guild last year, in our guild each year they do a "quilt of the year" Rachel designed this beautiful block of the month quilt. She loves Civil War era fabrics so she made  one of her block of the month quilts (yes she made a few of them) from Civil War fabrics.

When she brought it to me she told me that she wanted custom machine quilting but just one design in each block, really, just do whatever I wanted. So, I did, and I had fun with it. I machine quilted a lot of feathers, and I love how it turned out. :)

Sweet Celebrations ~ Reunion Quilt

I'm so excited to share another little peek into the new Moda Bake Shop book, Sweet Celebrations with the Moda Bake Shop Chefs. 

This is my fun Reunion quilt. When I designed this quilt I designed it with my husbands family in mind, he comes from a very large family, he has 8 siblings and there are currently 32 grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren. :) 

Yes, family parties are quite chaotic!

(nope, that's not any of us in the picture, but they sure are cute!)

My idea with this quilt is that some day I will have each person in the family sign one of the white "signature" spots on the quilt and then it'll become a gift for my in-laws, shh, don't tell them. :)

The quilt is a pretty simple to make, made from charm packs, it'd be super cute in any color scheme, and  the applique is done by machine. But if you're patient you could do it by hand.

Camper Burp Cloths

Whitnee, my sister, surely has been on a roll lately, making burp cloths for everyone! I love it every time they are even cuter than the last!

Valentines Day Quilt

Jen recently finished this fun Valentines Day quilt!

It's a fun pretty simple quilt pattern. She brought it to me and I machine quilted this cool all over heart pattern. 

I love the little bit of detail it added!

Twister Quilt

Sheila pieced this beautiful twister quilt as a gift for her sister-in-law.  I love this pattern, it's totally on my bucket list!

I custom machine quilted it for her. I quilted swirly feathers in each of the twisters and then swirls in all of the background/border. I just love how it turned out! Thanks for letting me machine quilt your darling quilt Sheila!

Kitchen Windows

Ruthanne pieced this darling quilt from Elizabeth Hartman's Kitchen Windows quilt pattern. Love this pattern!

Ruthanne asked me to machine quilt an all over pattern, so I quilted Baptist Fans, I just love they look they add. :) Thanks for letting me quilt your darling quilt Ruthanne! Here is another Kitchen Windows quilt that I machine quilted a while back.

Bloggers Quilt Festival ~ Fall 2012

Here I am squeaking in right before the deadline.  No worries, I made it!
2012 has been quite a year for me... probably one of my very most memorable years... e.v.e.r.
For a couple of reasons, the most exciting, the birth of my baby boy, he's growing so fast, I can't believe he's already almost 8 months old.
Next most memorable thing, the birth of my book, Beginner's Guide to Free-Motion Quilting. Still can't believe that this dream came true this year.

Next, the new Moda Bake Shop book, Sweet Celebrations with the Moda Bake Shop Chefs. I've always loved the Moda Bake Shop, (I have a new tutorial in the works) and I feel so honored that I was asked to contribute a few projects to the second book. The theme of the book is celebrations. I live in Utah and it seems like someone here is always having a baby... we love babies.. so how fitting is it to make a baby gift.

My mom and I designed "Out on a Line" this fun quilt and a coordinating banner.

When I made this quilt I knew that I was pregnant, I hadn't told anyone, my mom helped me come up with the idea for the quilt. I had no idea that I was expecting a boy.... but now it is so fitting that I made a baby boy quilt. :) I can't wait for this fun quilt to come home and snuggle with my baby boy!

Quilt Market in a Nutshell

Quilt market, fall 2012 was a real adventure! We, Kathleen (my mom) and I headed off early Thursday morning, it was pretty snowy here in the Utah mountains, about 15 minutes after we left we were rear-ended by a truck that lost control. It was pretty scary and we were pretty nervous that we'd miss our flight. Our car wasn't crashed to bad so we headed off to the airport in the crashed car and made it to the plane just before they closed the door!
