One of our favorite parts of being involved in a quilt guild is the Round Robin. We love to participate and be creative while sewing. 
The flag was the center block and we were inspired by the pattern Check Mate by Pieces from my heart. We turned the block sideways and added the checkerboard and the tan border. 
With this block we received the star. We then added the yellow, orange and yellow border. Don't you just love the variety in blocks.
