I love Christmas time! I love the decorations, the parties, the feeling of Christmas, I've even been known to put my Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving because I love it so much!
When my friends over at Fat Quarter Shop came out with this new Joyful Jelly Roll Tree Skirt pattern I just knew I HAD to make another Christmas tree skirt.
I decided to use the yummy new Sparkly Tinsel fabric by Cotton + Steel and I just love it! I love the retro feel.
After I got my skirt all pieced and machine quilted I took it to my mom for binding. I did change the circle in the center and made it pretty small. I have a fake Christmas Tree so I didn't want or need a very big center hole. When Kathleen was binding it she also made ties at the circle to tie the circle closed.
The pattern calls for a Moda Jelly Roll, but because I chose to use the Cotton + Steel fabric, and they don't have jelly rolls I used a half yard bundle. I had quite a bit of fabric left over so I used all of my scraps and re-created one of my favorite childhood Christmas decorations, No-Sew Scrappy Christmas Garland. I showed how I made it a couple days ago, you can check out the tutorial here.
Kimberly and the girls over at Fat Quarter Shop have created an adorable video with lots of tips on how-to make this Christmas Tree Skirt.
