I am so excited and flattered today that I get to share this book. Modern Quilts from the Blogging Universe.
Martingale published this beautiful collaboration book and I am so honored that they included me in the book.
Designing this quilt for this collaboration book was a lot of fun. Times were a little crazy, like having a baby, so my kind aunt Ilene pieced this darling quilt for me. She did a great job doing so! THANKS so much!
Since receiving this book I've had a lot of fun reading the bios. Each pattern comes with a photo and a little snippet about each contributor. It's fun to read through them and learn more about other quilt bloggers out there! :)
To kick off this great book Martingale is giving away FREE e-copies of Modern Quilts From the Blogging Universe! Simply leave me a comment, tell me what about this fun bloggy land has inspired you the most!
I do have signed copies available here.
Winner will be announced January 28, 2013!
Congratulations on the book! I love your quilt. What has inspired me the most? Besides seeing all of the beautiful quilts, I think it is the fact that quilters love to share. In today's world it seems that too many times people are out for their own interests, but quilters are happy to share. That is what I am inspired most by.
ReplyDeleteThe machine quilting has inspired me the most when I am looking through the blogging universe.
ReplyDeleteBlogland has inspired me to try different techniques and colours. Congrats on the book!
ReplyDeleteThe thing that really inspires me about the blog world is how all these talented people are so willing to share. Patterns, skills, tips all out there for everyone to enjoy. Amazing!

This looks like a great book. Congratulations. From blogland I have been inspired to try something new. I just seem to get in a rut and repeat my quilt making. I especially love the new combinations of colors
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed by the talent of quilters...and hoping some of it wears off on me!
ReplyDeleteLove this quilt! But more-over, I love the internet and how it connects me to all these inspirational quilters who share their lives with me! So excited to get this book!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
/Peggy
Looks like such a great book. I great almost all my ideas for quilt patterns from blog land and then like to play around with my own fabric and colour combinations.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the book!! I'm always inspired by everyone else's creativity! It sort of forces you to take yourself one step further, which is amazing. I also love connected people have become in bloggy land. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks to bloggers like yourself I made the leap into quilts, I wanted to connect with modern quilts from modern people.
ReplyDeleteI love your work
Congratulations on the book! Blogland has always inspired me to be different and go with my own pallet of colors.
ReplyDeleteI'm learning free-motion quilting which I didn't know existed until I saw it on a blog! I LOVE quilting blogs. Have a wonderfully quilty day!
ReplyDeleteI am inspired by blogs showing finished quilts and innovative techniques. I really love the modern movement and need the inspiration this book would give me

ReplyDeleteColor combos, there are so many things that I never would've thought look great together until I saw someone's project online. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI live in a remote area and the quilters here are wonderful, but steeped in the traditional ways. The internet has allowed me to be right at the forefront watching the new designers find their way. I may not get to see art galleries in person but I can see multitudes of quilts every day.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I am most inspired by your quilt-related tutorials, because I'm very new to piecing and quilting. They are SO VERY appreciated. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats. I am most inspired by the quilting on the quilts. It encourages me to try something new.
ReplyDeleteShawn
I never even thought about quilting until I came across one of the quilt blogs (can't remember which one!)~ I was hooked after that and am just now starting my own quilting adventure. Thanks so much for the chance to win! (fingers crossed)

ReplyDeleteCongrats! Blogland has offered me endless inspiration to create ... sew many quilts :) Pat
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful for you and I love your quilt design. I guess the thing that has inspired me is more bold colors and modern settings.
ReplyDeleteI like the quiltalongs. I don't have any quilting friends locally so it gives me a chance to pretend I do.
ReplyDeleteI love to see the new fabrics and colors that are available. It would be impossible for one shop to carry them all and the blog world opens a whole new dimension to the possibilities out there.
ReplyDeleteLynnette
I'm inspired by how nice everyone is. I have never seen Bad reviews or angry posts. It's so nice to not have any of that bad stuff in some part of my life.
ReplyDeleteI saw this in my local quilt shop a few weeks ago--we're all so excited about it! secretcityranch at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI have been inspired to step out of my comfort zone and start choosing fabrics for myself instead of having to copy a pattern to a T. I have also started FMQ.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win a great book!
Would love to win the book! Inspiring? Looking at all your gorgeous work!
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt! Thanks for a chance to win a book.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a lovely quilt! Reading blogs has opened me up to so many new possibilities, colour, fabric, pattern, technique... I'm sure I would never have seen and tried these things any other way.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the book! I'd have to say the most inspiring thing for me on the blogosphere is how supportive and encouraging everyone is. I feel empowered that I can do some of the same things!
ReplyDeletethe most inspiring thing is seeing all of the great ideas and designs that people create. that helps motivate me to work on my projects!
ReplyDeleteOh, I never would have started quilting if it weren't for blogs... They made something totally unfamiliar seem accessible. I am totally grateful for all the tutorials that got me started!
ReplyDeleteI glanced through the book at the local store last week. Beautiful book. As to blogland, I have been so inspired and learned so much I can't imagine quilting without all my "blog" friends.

ReplyDeleteThe things people do with solids inspires me so much! Amazing. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all the creative things people come up with that I would never think of doing. Quilting, color choices, patterns, etc. I love it all!
ReplyDeleteI have always been inspired by vintage quilts, but seeing all these modern quilts has made me want to make one!!
ReplyDeleteI love your new quilt! Browsing through blogs helps motivate me to try new free motion quilting techniques. I am a daily blog hopper!
ReplyDeleteWhat I love most is the inspiration that I get. I am fairly new to quilting, but I just love to see the projects and fabrics used. Your quilt is beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is great! I especially love your color choice and the intricacy of the design. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog. It is the very first blog I "found" and followed! Inspired me to start my own! You work is lovely.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the quilt and really enjoy your blog! The best thing for me about the blogosphere is the access to modern quilt patterns. There are so many new quilters with fresh designs, and I find out about most of them through blogs.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I seem most inspired when I see the same quilt made of different fabrics. It can really show how color & fabric placement can make the same quilt look so different
ReplyDeleteI've been inspired the most regarding the FMQ and Long-arming. I've tried both this past year and it has taken my quilting to another level.
ReplyDeleteI love the movement in your quilt - that in itself is inspiring. I do, however, find myself inspired by the way so many bloggers interpret a pattern or fabric differently. It's made me think about things in new ways - in a good way.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilts! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI love looking at all the quilts and seeing all the possibilities inspires me. Getting ideas and tips from the blog world keeps me going!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the book! What inspires me the most is being able to get inspiration from fantastic quilters such as yourself. So many remarkable women with such creative energy in the blog world. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThe energy and support has inspired me! Of course fabric and designs too.
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt and the calm color scheme. Thanks for the chance to win an e-copy of the book. As for the blogging world - I don't have my own blog but always turn to this community for inspiration etc. What has really struck me in the openness, generosity and general kindness of all those here. So many have extended advice, giveaways, swaps, etc. but even virtual friendships - I think that inspires me the most!
ReplyDeleteBlog land has inspire me with all the wonderful projects to admire and the sharing of information that is given freely.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance to win!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance - it has been a way to see so many more ways to quilt. Design, fabric, techniques so much to try!
ReplyDeleteWhen I stumbled onto the various quilting bloggers, I was instantly drawn to this community of talented, kind, and real women. I am inspired everyday by what they dream-up and bring to life- all while juggling the often-underestimated demands of family and household (and for some, a day job). Congrats to all of them and thanks for all the inspiration and for being my quilting-community (even if virtually ;)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the book!!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your beautiful work! I'd love to win a book!
ReplyDeleteWhat a busy woman you've been! I've learned so much from tutorials and blog hops. They allow me to learn at my own speed and practice on smaller projects as I build my skills.
ReplyDeleteI find all the wonderful photographs of amazing quilts, utterly inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win.
I think the most inspiring thing about blogland is the way people are so generous with their knowledge and time. They spend days making tutorials and patterns and offer them for free. People spend days arranging swaps and bees, just because they think it would be a good idea. Blogland connects us into a virtual community rather than a physical one, but it is a real one nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteI love your addition to the book, I'm guessing it looks completely different done in differing fabric variations and color combos... lots of potential!
ReplyDeleteI'm inspired by all the blogs that feature quilts made from modern designer fabric lines, many of which sadly are not available in my home country or very expensive. Sometimes I indulge myself and order some fabric from the US though. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
Your quilt is great! I love interlocking designs.
ReplyDeleteI love blogland. And love everything about it. It's full of hints, ideas, and also general good and bad dealing with life. You know your not out there alone.
ReplyDeleteI love that you can make whatever you WANT to make, with no old-fashioned rules.... unless you want them!

ReplyDeletebeautiful Quilt!
ReplyDeleteI'm most inspired by simple quilt designs that create modern looks.
ReplyDeleteWhile I have normally been a traditioanlist, including hand quilting; I have become a fan of modern art quilts and am working on perfecting machine quilting for contests that tequire machine quilting, and even looking ar getting into long-arming :-)

ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!
What has inspired me the most??? How about the fabulous use of colors? My old favorite colors were olive, brown, navy, and charcoal grey. Now I'm all about bold and bright and I'm quite certain it has to do with all of the great quilts and fabrics I've seen/discovered on quilting blogs!
ReplyDeleteFawn
Like seeing the different quilts and even thought of reversing the negative space in one to see what it would look like. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI am inspired by the way the modern quilters use negative space. As a longarm quilter, I love having a place to "show off" without taking away from the piecing!! Totally cool!!!!!

ReplyDeleteI love "Knots"! What has inspired me most is the posting of finishes. I was only a process-quilter until I stumbled onto finish link-ups. Now I'm much MUCH better about getting regular finishes. :)

ReplyDeleteInspiration comes everyday when I look at all the great blogs. Thanks for sharing your talents.
ReplyDeleteThe book looks great but I think your quilt is my favourite!
ReplyDeleteBlogs! They inspire me to get out of my box of rigid ideas about what a quilt should be. I'm not so afraid to experiment anymore. I know I can make a sample block to see if i like a certain technique without being committed to making a full size quilt. We all need potholders LOL

ReplyDeleteI am inspired by you young designers who have families and yet still machine quilt for others, plus design quilts and write books and have time to blog! I also am inspired by the beautiful colors of modern quilting and how simple is okay. The design is part of the quilt but doesn't mind being quilted over or the quilting becomes the focus and not the design. I like both the modern and the traditional quilts. You have such an eye for graphic designs that really catch the eye and area pleasing to look at. Thanks for sharing all of your gorgeous quilting as well as designs with us. Keep it up! K-
