My friend, Tina Lewis designed and made this darling Animal Crackers quilt. Tina actually designed this quilt a few years back and I've custom machine quilted a few versions of this quilt for her.
This fun quilt has a mix of modern and traditional, so I chose to machine quilt it to tie it all together.
In each of the 9-patch blocks I machine quilted cross-hatching, so to tie the border to those blocks I machine quilted cross-hatching in the outer border.
Around each of the animal appliques I machine quilted small pebbles, I really wanted to make the applique pop!
In the smaller/stop border I machine quilted straight lines, the straight lines help to keep the quilt a bit more modern, but also provide a nice place for the eye to rest.
I really love how this quilt turned out. In the background, around all of the patches I alternated designs, quilting swirls and pebbles, they really helped make the patches pop. Then in the border I quilted swirls in the negative areas.
