I recently custom machine quilted this darling version of the Quilters Patch quilt for Kathy! This quilt is darling and I had so much fun quilting it for her.
The quilt is full of so much fun detail and kind of a sampler type quilt. I really love quilting sampler type quilts. The variety of quilting that I get to do to bring the quilt to life really makes my little heart happy.
On quilts like this, that are more figurative type quilts I really try to make my machine quilting add to the quilt, not take away from it. So, if you look closely you can see that I've quilted leaves in the leaves, flowers in the flowers, and so on, in my opinion the little details like that really give quilts some fun character.
I also like to add to applique whenever I can, so on this flower vine I added some fun feathers and then continued the feathers across the top of the quilt. I really love the fun details that can be added to a quilt with feathers.
If you're still scared of feathers, make sure to check out my book; Visual Guide to Free-Motion Quilting Feathers.
I also filmed a few videos while I was quilting this quilt. You can check them out over on YouTube, and while you're over there make sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel.
Thanks for letting me quilt this darling quilt Kathy!

ReplyDeleteI love watching you quilt, Natalia! You are an amazing inspiration to me!! What awesome quilting!
ReplyDeleteYour stitching in the ditch is so accurate! When you are S-I-D as you go, how on earth do you remember where you have stitched and where you need to go next? I realize your brain is a lot younger than mine, but I just cannot imagine being able to keep up with that! I have to put a pin in the blocks that I've finished quilting (on domestic) so that I'm sure to finish each block. Love your videos. Keep 'em coming.
