How-to: Unpick Machine Quilting

Over the years I've had to unpick machine quilting more than I'd like to admit. Although I'd love to live by the stadard of "it's a design element" there are times that you just have to unpick. In this little machine quilting video I'm sharing the method I like to use to unpick my machine quilting.

  2. Wow, that is amazing. (And rather logical). Thanks for sharing.

  3. Thank you for your video. Unpicking is so time consuming. My main reason for having to unpick is that my tension is bad. I will have forgotten to check it after previously using a different thread combination. Usually that means the back has loops from a loose top tension. So unpicking from the back side works best in this scenario, again starting the process at the end of the stitching going backwards. It's great to know that there are others out there that are not perfect.

  4. This may seem like a simple question, but how do you remove the underside threads afterpicking. Hope you have a better idea than what I do now which is looking under the quilt and picking or collecting threads. Thank you for the video. It was most helpful!

  5. great idea: I do something similar, but I liked seeing how you hold the tension in the top thread and only cut the bobbin thread. Thanks!!

  6. Great idea - holding tension so you can unpick the other. Makes sense when you see it like this.
