Grab a few of your favorite solid colors, cut your strips, and begin sewing. This quilt sews together quickly! With its large solid-color pieces, this would be a fun quilt to show off your machine quilting, but it would be equally interesting if you featured your favorite big-scale prints in the large open areas.
Framed Cabins is another one of our new quilt patterns from our new book; Cabin Fever: 20 Modern Log Cabin Quilts.
Framed Cabins pattern is written in three sizes: Baby, Throw & Coverlet. Oh, and those fun pillows shown on the quilt, there's a pattern for those in the book too!
The quilt shown above is made in the coverlet size, it's 96"x96".
After Kathleen and I made this quilt it just screamed custom machine quilting. I decided to do some custom machine quilting and had a lot of fun with it. I love how the quilting made a blue, green and white quilt girly. :)

I have to admit when I first saw this quilt, I just was not real impressed. Yet, something kept my mind going after closing the post, I have clicked and reread your post several times now. Little by little, I know now what my mind was doing....creating applique and hand embroidery stitches (in my eye) would really make this quilt work for me. I admire and appreciate every designer who creates all of these wonderful patterns that inspire. So, I want to especially say thank you for creating this pattern, which in turn made my usually dull and unimaginative creative side come to the surface and actually shout and do a little happy dance! I hope that you have a fabulous day creating!
ReplyDeleteBrenda! Thank you for sharing! I know this quilt has a ton of negative space, which can be totally intimidating. I love that you can see potential to make it your own, THAT makes me happy!!! :)
