My friend Tina Lewis designed and made this beautiful Hiccup quilt for Modern Patchwork magazine.
Tina sent me this beautiful quilt and asked me to to custom machine quilt it for her. Because the quilt is pretty modern I chose to use rulers and keep the machine quilting crisp and clean. Rulers are a girls best friend when it comes to some gorgeous straight line quilting.
If you look closely you can see that I chose to really play on the piecing. Most often piecing or fabric will really play into how I decide to machine quilt a quilt. On all of the blocks that have a black triangle in the corner I machine quilted the straight lines coming off of that and then in all of the blocks that have the straight stripe in them I machine quilted either horizontal or vertical straight lines. I really love how this quilt turned out.
Thanks for letting me machine quilt your beautiful quilt Tina!
Pattern for this quilt can be found in the spring 2016 issue of Modern Patchwork.

I'm not a "modern" type of piecer, however, I have to say more and more when I see custom quilting like this that fits and compliments the pattern I'm becoming a fan. Very nice.
ReplyDeletenice quilt; good job!
ReplyDeleteI definitely am the "modern spirit"! Love the elegance of clear, simplistic patterns and spring freshness of coloring.
ReplyDeleteWas it hard to resist the temptation of rich ornaments;-)?
Love it!
