Kathy sent me this gorgeous quilt and asked me to custom machine quilt it for her. I know I mention this every time I quilt a quilt that is made from one of my patterns, but quilting these quilts just warms my heart!
The pattern for this fun quilt is "In the Navy" it's a quilt that I originally designed and was published in American Patchwork & Quilting magazine, you can read more about it here.
Kathy loves custom machine quilting so she asked me to custom machine quilt this quilt for her. Because the quilt has such a crisp modern feel and she is giving it to her young grand-daughter I wanted to add a little bit of frill to it, but not take away from the crispness.
So, I selected some So Fine! thread that blended really nicely and machine quilted swirls, pebbles and some fun flowers, I teach all of these designs in my book; Beginner's Guide to Free-Motion Quilting.
