Ann made this beautiful Kaffe quilt and brought it to me for some custom machine quilting. There is a lot going on with the quilt so I knew that my machine quilting really needed to give the eye a place to rest.
I chose to machine quilt a combination of straight lines and feathers.
In the outside border I quilted feathers around the outside of the quilt. Then I chose to really play up the strip pieced units and machine quilt straight lines in those, and then in the more solid looking blocks I machine quilted a flower motif. I really love that the machine quilting is subtle, yet helps to create a place for the eye to rest.
