North Wind Mixology Quilt

Over the past few years I've been able to machine quilt several quilts for my friends over at Moda Fabrics for International Quilt Market. I'm excited today to share another fun quilt that I machine quilted for this upcoming quilt market!
When I was deciding how-to custom machine quilt this quilt I knew that I really wanted to make those windmills pop! So, I decided to use straight lines as a way to really make them stand out.
I machine quilted feathers, going around the block backgrounds, it kinda gives it a swirly motion, and then I machine quilted figure 8's in the sashing and siwrls in the dark blue setting triangles. I think this quilt turned out pretty awesome!
(all of these machine quilting techniques are taught in my book; Beginner's Guide to Free-Motion Quilting)

Nellie's Needle Quilt - Fall 2014 Quilt Market

This is one of those quilts that I've been teasing with on Instagram. Now that International Quilt Market starts this weekend I finally get to share!
This yummy quilt was designed and made by the lovely Karen from Nellie's Needles, hop over to her website to see all of her cute patterns!
So, when Karen sent me this quilt and asked me to custom machine quilt it for her I knew I had to create some fun interest by making the secondary pattern pop!
So, I added in some flowers and some swirls, along with a little bit of ruler work, and viola, there's the final result, and I love it!
The pattern for this quilt will soon be available, and if you're going to Quilt Market or Quilt Festival, in Houston this fall, make sure to stop by Nellie's Needle booth to check out this beauty!

Custom Machine Quilting for Nellie's Needle

I'm super duper excited that it's International Quilt Market week so I can finally start sharing some of the quilts that I've been machine quilting.

I'm still in North Carolina, I've been busy here teaching our Lattice quilt, and today I'll be teaching Beginner's Guide to Free-Motion Quilting and I'll be sharing my quilts tonight in a trunk show, I'll share details and lots of pictures when I get back home. :)

Anyways, back this this beauty! Karen from Nellie's Needle designed and made this gorgeous quilt! When Karen sent me this quilt she said, quilt it however you want, just no spider webs! Haha, okay! So, I machine quilted some jumbo flowers in the octogans, totally opposite of spider webs!
For the background I stitched-in-the ditch around the blocks and then echoed in about 1/4". Then I alternated machine quilting patterns, using figure eights and swirls! I freaking love how this quilt turned out! I didn't want to give it back to Karen!
Karen will have this quilt, along with several others with her at International Quilt Market and Quilt Festival in Houston, if you're attending either make sure to stop by her booth and check out all of the eye-candy!

Quilt Market Happened!

photo via instagram

Kathleen and I spent the weekend in Houston, Texas at International Quilt Market. It was a fabulous weekend of connecting with friends, old and new, learning about new products and most exciting for us, sharing our new book, Modern One-Block Quilts.

As we spent three days there I spent a lot of time snapping pictures of the quilts I machine quilted for Vendors. I'm honestly not sure how many quilts I machine quilted that were hanging there but I do know there were over 20, that I machine quilted in the last month... it's been a little crazy here. :)

The quilt above, sorry it's not the greatest quality photo (phone picture) I machine quilted for Moda Fabrics. It was hanging in the Moda Fabrics booth and I love how it turned out. :)

If you have a minute hop over to my instagram page to see many more of the beautiful quilts that I was able to machine quilt.

Petals at Quilt Market!

Today I received a lovely email from the ladies over at Fons & Porter Magazine. I knew they still had our Petals quilt but it didn't even cross my mind that they'd be taking it to Quilt Market.

Quilt Market ~ Fall 2011

Quilt Market is always so much fun, but oh boy such a creativity overload!
There are so many fun fabric lines, books, notions, magazines and so on that are coming out in the next few months.
If you were following along with me on Facebook and Twitter you probably saw what I was up to most of the time.. Including arriving in Houston and realizing that I had forgotten to take pants.

I have a few books, rulers and some fun ruffle fabric that I am going to be sharing and reviewing over the next few weeks.

Okay, time for me to head back to the quilting machine!
Have a great day!

Quilt Market 2011 {the rest of the pictures}

Somehow I didn't get all of my pictures from Quilt Market on here. Maybe because I took hundreds. I created this last little collage to share some of my favorite pictures.
You can click on the picture to zoom in but a few favorites include awesome pillows everywhere. Seeing an advance copy of the July/August issue of McCalls Quilts (with Kathleens' It's for the Birds pattern.) Book signings, I think I got a total of 5 new books, Pam Kitty Morning panels, the Riley Blake Fabrics tree, the Cosmo Cricket quilt in the Moda Fabrics booth, one of Amy's quilts that I machine quilted. Oh, I could go on and on.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend! :)

Fresh Fabric Treats and the Moda Bake Shop at Quilt Market

Sunday morning Moda had a book signing for Fresh Fabric treats. Five of us chefs' were still around so we signed and gave away free copies. It was so much fun. We giggled and giggled the whole time.
This was the darling little Moda Bake Shop booth. So cherry!
I didn't even notice these super cute (yes, totally biased here) table runners made from my tutorial :)
Myself, Vanessa and Kimberly, the 3 Utah girls!
If you live in Utah, the three of us will be doing a few book signings! More details coming soon.
If you haven't already ordered your copy don't wait! You'll love this darling book!

Quilt Market 2011 {Day 2-Part2}

Day two was filled with meeting lots of friends. I finally got to meet the super duper awesome Vicki & Stephanie! They are both awesome girls.
Then I visited Julie and her cute booth.
Checked out these lovely pillows. I so want some of these in my house!
Kathleen has found a new passion, embroidery applique. I'm pretty sure she found every single quilt the the place that contained embroidery applique. This one was a favorite for sure!
Then we saw these cute rugs, they were all minky, super cute but oh my, can you imagine sewing those. Someone is amazingly patient!
Then I got to meet up again with the AMAZING Pat Sloan! YUP she is again just as awesome as she was last fall!
I found Allison from Cluck Cluck Sew. I had no idea she was going to be there so I was so excited to meet her. She has an awesome style and she is super sweet!
Then I went over to April's booth. Her patterns are Prairie Grass Patterns and I was lucky enough to quilt 4 of her darling quilts for her!
This one turned out pretty darn cute! I will post more pictures soon!
I also quilted the one above and below one for April.
Then I found Jamie M. again and snapped a few pictures with her! She is awesome!

Today was another fabulous day. Moda had a Fresh Fabric Treats book signing and it was so much fun and full of giggles!
I'll be back soon with lots more pictures! :)
