We got the boot!

Our time on So You Think You're Crafty has ended:(
Whitnee and I had so much fun participating in the contest and it was really fun to do more than sew!
This past week's theme was Cultural, we chose to make a fabric Lei, since our family has spent a lot of time in Hawaii and having Luau's we thought that was the most appropriate for us!
We went across the street to the lake and Whitnee posed for some pictures.
Then she even did a hula dance!
If you missed out on our other projects that we made for So You Think You're Crafty follow these links!

Change.

I'm one of those people who moves my furniture around about once a month. It always makes me feel revitalized! In my studio I don't have the capability to move things around much, mostly because I'm not strong enough to move my long arm.....:) So instead I've found it revitalizing to just switch the quilts that I have hanging on the walls.
So this week I put this one up behind my long arm and I'm loving it! This is still one of my favorite quilts that I've ever made and it makes me so happy!
I also finished quilting that quilt you can see on the machine.
All over circles, turned out really cute!
Now off to bed, I've got a big weekend ahead.

My brother is getting married.
I've got a new Moda Bake Shop tutorial to share.
&
Lots of family in town.
YAY!

A proud daughter!

I know that my mom has talent!
I, along with my siblings and my dad have been very lucky to learn from her talent! She has always had an AMAZING eye for color and style. Not only with quilts, she has a fabulous sense of style with her home and yard. (I know because I watch strangers stop by and take pictures of her home every day!) I could go on and I but I won't!
Kathleen is my mom/partner in crime!
A couple months ago she decided to enter a quilt in the McCalls Quilting Design Star contest. I think there were over 170 entrants and 15 of them have been selected to compete in the contest. Well, one of those is my mom! They asked her a few questions about herself and I couldn't help but laugh as I was reading them! So, head on over to McCalls to read more about Kathleen!
Congratulations mom! I'm really proud of you!

Teaching Starch Appliqe, my method.

Last Thursday I taught my starch applique technique at a local quilt guild.
My friend Cat took some pics of me. I'm pretty sure I'm a pro at looking dumb in pictures. :) Oh well, I'll give you a good laugh!
It was a long day... So my hair didn't even get done.. Oh well, that's life when you're a working mom. :)
(Don't mind my eyes, I know they look like I'm on drugs.... I really wasn't.)
Okay, on a more serious note. It did go well and I really enjoyed sharing my starch applique technique, you can learn more about it here
Hope your Monday is off to a good start. I've got some great news to share later this week and my brother is marrying a super cute girl this week and Chesney gets to be a flower girl so I'm super excited for the week!
