It's simple half square triangles made from a layer cake, I love how it's so simple but can add so much color to a room for fall.
I machine quilted an all over leaf pattern, I haven't used variegated thread in a very long time, but now my favorite thread brand is making variegated thread I may just start using it more, I really love the way that it looks on this quilt.
Have a fantastic day! I'm hoping to get a lot accomplished today even though it's my little ones' 4th birthday today!
I'm sure you've seen this fun new book popping up all over. But today I get to share my little take on this great book.
Modern Blocks is a fabulous book featuring 99 Quilt Blocks (and patterns) by many well know designers and published by Stash Books.
I am so honored that I have to opportunity to share a favorite block of mine in this book.
Piece of the Garden is the block that I designed. I love hexagons but I'm just not patient enough to hand sew. So, I designed a traditional hexagon block that can all be made by machine..... with NO Y SEAMS! YAY!!
One of these days I really want to make a whole quilt using this block, and my scraps!
I have to share this little sneak peak of the back of the book. I was able to view the book a few times before my copy actually arrived and I never noticed the back cover. When it arrived I started examining the back cover and I almost peed my pants! There is my name! :)
Gayle helped her daughter-in-law piece this quilt. It was her daughter-in-law's first quilt. Pretty impressive that she made something this big for her first quilt.
Gayle had me machine quilt an all over floral pattern across the whole quilt.
Then in the bottom border she had me machine quilt "First Quilt ~ SBW 2011"
It turned out really cool looking, and a great alternative to a traditional label.
Just in case you're wondering Gayle told me she named the quilt, The Purple Wonder because she's never seen so much purple fabric. :)
as I'm thinking what I'm going to write in this post I'm thinking I totally sound like a stalker.
Anyways, I've been eyeing this book ever since I heard about it. I really love those Sweetwater girls, I love all of their fabric, I'm pretty sure I've made something out of every line they've come out with (notice how I placed the book on my Wrapped in Red quilt made with their fabrics)
Anyways,
open the book and it has 35 darling simple home decor ideas and items that I'd love to make for my own home.
This quilt is one of my favorites in the book. I love how it's so simple, but do you see what the quilting did for each of those little circles. LOVE IT!
I also really really love this wall-hanging. Seriously as many scraps of fabric as I have laying around here I could totally whip one of these up in a couple hours.
