Autumn Quilt - Custom Machine Quilting by Natalia Bonner

Oh, my, gosh! Time is just flying by and I'm suddenly feeling really guilty at how far behind I've gotten with my blogging. I love sharing my quilts here on the blog, but I guess I just got really busy machine quilting and didn't take the time to share the beautiful quilts I've been working on here with you all!

Last fall, actually just before fall Quilt Market I custom machine quilted this darling fall quilt for my local quilt shop, Quilted Works. It's one of the original designs, and all of the applique pieces are cut with a laser, making the quilt top really fun and easy to put together. You can check out more of their fun laser cut quilt tops and kits here.

I loved custom machine quilting this fun quilt for them. Of course, I had to add in some feathers, have I mentioned how much I love quilting feathers......just in case you didn't know I do, and I've got a new book coming out in the spring that all about feathers, Visual Guide to Fee-Motion Quilting Feathers

Anyways, when I custom machine quilt sampler type quilts like this one I like to really try to make each block/section of the quilt really feel like it's individual or unique. So, if you look closely at the truck block I quilted a fun cobblestone pattern under the truck, it's fun to really bring blocks like that to life with machine quilting.
In my book; Beginner's Guide to Free-Motion Quilting I teach step-by-step how-to machine quilt those fun cobblestones.

Of course, when it comes to applique I do like to quilt on applique whenever I feel it would add to the applique, if you look at the cornstalk I machine quilted little vines to really bring them to life, and also not leave too much open space.

Thanks for letting me machine quilt this beautiful quilt Quilted Works!
