Star Quilt - Custom Machine Quilting by Natalia Bonner

Dorinda made this beautiful modern star quilt and brought it to me for some custom machine quilting.
Dorinda didn't have anything in particular in mind for this quilt, she just really wanted some straight lines coming out from the appliqued stars to really make them crisp looking.

This quilt has a lot of color and I knew again, that this would require several thread color changes to make it look great, or else, I could use some MicroQuilter thread and just use two thread colors on the whole quilt.

So in the background on the whole quilt I used white thread and then in all of the colored blocks I used a light yellow thread, that blended so nicely. I'm really loving the MicroQuilter thread.

I also had a lot of fun with my machine quilting. You can see that I used a straight line filler in all of the pink sashing strips and a ribbon candy filler in all of teal strips. I love adding little details like that. I also stitched a straight line outline around all of the blocks in the white background area, I think that this adds a fun extra border and an extra element of interest but doesn't take away from the quilt.

Thanks for letting me machine quilt this beautiful quilt Dorinda!

I used Quilters Dream Batting and MicroQuilter thread by Superior Threads.
