Sewing Summit {the time I spent there}

I had a crazy weekend this past weekend and because of that I wasn't able to spend as much time at The Sewing Summit as I wanted to, however, the time I spent there was AWESOME!
Amy and Erin rocked the event!
On Saturday afternoon I had the opportunity of teaching a class, my "Raw Edge Starch Applique" method.
I think there were about 50 ladies in my class.
I loved how happy everyone was, and I got to meet so many of my online friends, friends that I've quilted quilts for, friends that I'm in Bee groups with, new friends and friends from Moda Bake Shop.
I loved that the class was so "hands on" thanks to all of the sponsors that donated machines, thread, supplies and fabric for us to practice applique.
Thank you all!
You made my crazy weekend finish off with a perfect night of sewing and chatting!
Can't wait to see you all again!

  1. I loved your class. It was so much fun. And made applique a little less ... intimidating. :-) I finished the project I started and am going to make a pillow with it on the front and my project from Jess' improv piecing class on the back, with "Sewing Summit 2011" somewhere on there. :-) Thanks for the great class!

  2. Ditto. It was so awesome to meet you. Your applique tips were so cool and totally different than how I had been doing them. It is way easier your way. Thanks. And it is cool that I made it on your blog. I am the one in the gray shirt that you are helping on the sewing machine. Lisa

  3. That looks like a lot of fun! I love seeing that sea of sewing machines. Makes me smile. That tells me that a lot of sewing was going on and sewing makes me happy!

  4. Thank you SO much for the starch applique class! What a challenge to create my own design AND apply it in such a short time, but it was fun and I was AMAZED at the fantastic things people came up with! I'm happy with my block & I finished zig zagging this morning & blogged it.

    You know, I had a can of spray starch & box of freezer paper for over a year ~ ready to go but never tried it. This class got my tushy in gear! Thanks so much Natalia :)

  5. Looks like fun . Too bad life changed your plans ; happens a lot , doesn't it ? I would have loved to learn from you in person , but I DID learn from your tutorial online when I started the wall hanging (that still is not done !) and now I actually do more appliques ! Thanks , I needed the push !!!!

  6. Meeting you was one of the coolest parts of the summit. Thanks for the awesome class on applique. It completely changed how I do it now...and for the better. Next year, see if they would let you do the machine quilting class or demo a long arm quilting class. Just a thought.
