Trunk Show

For those of you that weren't able to attend our trunk show today I'll share with you online! :)
Starting from the beginnig! I'll answer all of your questions.
How long have you been sewing? About 15 years.
How long have you been machine quilting? Just over two years.
This is the first quilt that I ever made. I am aware that nothing lines up, nothing matches and there are holes in it! But I'm pretty sure I was proud of this quilt.

This is a table runner made from one charm pack The pattern is called Games People Play by Pieces From my Heart. The fabric is Shangri La Woven.

This is Fresh Squeezed Table Runner. This runner was made using one Fresh Squeezed charm pack on point.

This is called May Flower. Made using white & marble jelly roll strips.

Checkerboard Table runner using jelly roll  strips. We made 5 different runners from one jelly roll.

Summertime, designed by Natalia Bonner. I used 1/3 of a jelly roll to make the outer border.

Valentines quilt made from one jelly roll. Love that this quilt shows such a variety in the jelly roll.

Zippity Doo Dah. This quilt is made from one jelly roll. Fabric is from the collection Zippity Doo Dah.

Desired Quilt. Designed by Natalia Bonner. Used one Objects of Desire jelly roll. Tutorial available here.

Merry Go Round. Pattern by Sandy Klop. Material is Mary Engelbreit's Recipe for Friendship. Used three jelly rolls. This quilt is queen sized.

Genny's quilt. I have no idea what the name of this pattern is, my friend Genny made this and I love how traditional it is but it's from a jelly roll.

Gobble Chain designed by Kathleen Whiting, Natalia Bonner & Whitnee North. King size. This quilt was made using two jelly rolls plus a little bit of yardage. Tutorial will be available soon here @ Piece N Quilt!

Figgy Christmas was designed by Natalia Bonner, Kathleen Whiting & Whitnee North. This quilt is king size. Tutorial will be available here @ Piece N Quilt soon! This quilt was made from one white jelly roll and one layer cake.

During HMQS 2009 we had the wonderful opportunity of meeting a new friend. She came to Utah just for HMQS and had never been here before. We ended up crossing paths and had the opportunity to show her part of Salt Lake City. It was so nice to stop for a minute and enjoy the spring, enjoy our surroundings that we so often forget about. The tulips were out and were so gorgeous!

One of the highlights for us at HMQS was to meet Barbara Jones of Quilt Soup. We've loved her patterns but to meet her and realize that she also lives right here in Utah was such a highlight. It was fun to hear her talk about her grandchildren and making her quilts for them. Barbara and Natalia in Barbara's Quilt Soup booth (which I thought was one of the cutest ones there!) at HMQS 2009
We are currently carrying several Quilt Soup patterns. Click here to see her cute patterns!

Yesterday we had the opportunity of spending the day at HMQS. It's a wonderful quilt show and there were some amazing quilts. We took a few photos and thought we'd share some with you!
We were able to start the day by listening to and viewing a trunk show by David Taylor. His work is amazing! He is so inspiring. I thought the hatching on this quilt was fabulous! This quilt just made me happy and excited about quilting! I want to make one like it but for myself! The pictures don't do this quilt justice. It'd quilted on a conventional machine and it's absolutely fabulous! Our challenge quilt using Quilting Treasures material Elle Fun. This was fun to make. We have several more photos but we'll have to share them another day!

Don't forget! If you live in Utah or anywhere near you should go to HMQS. We get to go there today! We'll take lots of pictures for those of you that can't make it this year:) If you do go look for our quilts! "On a Bike" and "Strut Your Stuff"

Happy sewing!

Off to HMQS we go!
This year we decided to participate in the 2009 Quilt Challenge. Here's how it works. We purchased a kit that included 6 prints from the collection Elle Fun by Quilting Treasures. The challenge is to make a quilt with a perimeter of no more than 120", using the theme Pump Up the Color. You may add embellishments and up to four other prints. We came up with the idea.
"On a Bike" The only fabric that we added was the white background material. We appliqued the wool bike and then added a few embellishments. This quilt will be judged at the quilt show May 7-9 2009 then auctioned off. The money that is raised will be used to build a well in Kenya. Piecing by Kathleen Whiting, Natalia Bonner & Whitnee North. Machine Quilting by Natalia Bonner.

Wasatch County Fair

This week is one of my favorite weeks of the year. THE FAIR! I have always looked forward to this week and it's already here again. My mom & Whitnee entered a few quilts in the quilt show and they got blue ribbons on all of them! Whitnee made this one to match her new house, she started with a pattern called Zig Zag Shangri La (which you can buy on our website) and changed the borders and made it bigger to fit on her bed. She did a really good job! I was really impressed because the pattern says it's an advanced quilt and she's only made a few quilts before! Good job Whit! My mom was being really creative and decided to make this "Pumpkin Patch" quilt. She designed the pattern and pieced it. I quilted it and helped with the binding. It was fun to learn how to do the scalloped borders. Whitnee had made designed this pattern and pieced this quilt for Lexie. I think she did a really good job! Last but not least this was my mom's round robin 2008 for the Heber Valley Quilt Guild. She did the center block, then Kazuko King did the first border, Brenda Wilcox did the windmill border and Michelle Murdock did the last border. I think it turned out so cute!
Good job girls, now onto our "Winter Strips"! I am so excited for this project:)

Wallhanging for HMQS

I just finished quilting this wall hanging for Novelty Quilt Fabrics. It is so cute. They are going to use it for a display in their booth at HMQS. I had such a fun time quilting it!

HMQS Block

For the Utah Valley Long Arm Quilt Guild we pieced one block to be in our groups quilt. You had to use the Marie Osmond fabric and the theme is "Wrapped up in our Quilted Past." This is the block that we made. We think that it turned out really cute!
