Swirls {Machine Quilting by Natalia Bonner}

Over the weekend I finished machine quilting a couple darling quilts for Mickey. She wanted swirls on both of her quilts. This first quilt I machine quilted a heavier edge to edge swirl.

It turned out really cute. I'm a little biased because Mickey made this super cute quilt from my Crazy Christmas Quilt tutorial.

Mickey also made this fun blue and brown quilt. I machine quited a lighter swirl all over.

Quilting - A $3.5 Billion Industry

Often when people ask me what I do and they find out I am a "quilter" full time I get strange looks. People just can't understand this industry. I just came across this great article in one of my local newspapers and have to share this will all of my fellow quilters and friends.

I think I just made the biggest pincushion ever!

A few months back I decided to use some scraps, I know don't be too shocked that I actually used scraps, to make a pincushion. I pulled out these darling brights and made this super duper cute square pincushion. I just kinda made up the pattern as I went.  Since I live about an hour away from any place to buy something to fill the thing with it just never got filled. So the floppy pincushion just sat. Two weeks ago I got the crazy idea to finally fill it.

So, I think it's super duper cute it's just more like a weight, I should go weigh it. :)

I had to take this picture with two spools of thread just so you can see how big it is.

Well, at least it's super cute and very quick and easy to make! :)

Quilt Market 2011 {the rest of the pictures}

Somehow I didn't get all of my pictures from Quilt Market on here. Maybe because I took hundreds. I created this last little collage to share some of my favorite pictures. 

You can click on the picture to zoom in but a few favorites include awesome pillows everywhere. Seeing an advance copy of the July/August issue of McCalls Quilts (with Kathleens' It's for the Birds pattern.) Book signings, I think I got a total of 5 new books, Pam Kitty Morning panels, the Riley Blake Fabrics tree, the Cosmo Cricket quilt in the Moda Fabrics booth, one of Amy's quilts that I machine quilted. Oh, I could go on and on.

Loft {Machine Quilting}

Last week I machine quilted this darling quilt.

When Lisa brought me this quilt she wanted it to be super warm.

I most always use Hobbs 80/20 batting and I am very happy with the way it quilts and it's plenty warm for me but I think there is always a place for more warmth. 

So we doubled up. I used a Hobbs 80/20 batting and then on top of that we used a high loft Polyester batting. It gave the quilt lots of loft, which made for some really pretty texture in the machine quilting.

The quilt finished very heavy and warm. Perfect!

So here is the question. Are you a fan of high loft quilts?
