Hello there friends, welcome to my portion of the Simply Fat Quarters Showcase. If you're new to the showcase come along and check out the Fat Quarter Shop's brand new book, Simply Fat Quarters.
The super talented girls over at Fat Quarter Shop and It's Sew Emma designed this darling book that features some fun quilts. Every quilt in this book is made from fat quarters.
I pieced and quilted one of the darling quilts from this book, Spa Quilt, for myself and I love how it turned out. :)
Above is the original version, very pretty in blues, below is my version. Of course it's brights, I love brights. :)
One of the awesome things about this book is every single pattern in the book contains layouts for four sizes, Crib, Lap, Twin and King. I made my version of the Spa Quilt in twin and I love it! It was actually a pretty simple quilt to make! :)
Of course I have to share a close up of my machine quilting. :)
Would you like to win a copy of Simply Fat Quarters and a kit to make my version of the Spa Quilt? Courtesy of Fat Quarter Shop. Leave a comment and tell me what your favorite size of quilt to make is. Baby, Twin, Full, Queen, or King?
Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you a little secret about this great book, do you see my name in the picture above, yes, I was lucky enough to machine quilt all of the darling quilts in this book! :) Yes, I'm still blushing :)

I really like to make twin size quilts, cause its easier for me to handle in the free motion quilting!

ReplyDeleteI tend to make Queen sized quilts since that's the only size beds we have in the house. Lovely quilt!
ReplyDeleteAny size that is done! :D
ReplyDeleteBaby quilts my favourite - can see the finished product much more quickly!
ReplyDeleteDeborah
my fave size to make is a twin/lap
ReplyDeletesize. I usually get this size Finished! Amen to that. Your quilt is fabulous.
This is so pretty! I like crib-sized quilts. They are fast and I tend to be able to stay focused long enough to finish them quickly.
ReplyDeleteI like to make lap size quilts.
ReplyDeleteI like to make lap size quilts.
ReplyDeleteI've only made crib and lap quilts so far, but I am gearing up to make a twin size quilt for my daughter's "big girl" bed. Thanks so much for the chance to enter!
ReplyDeleteI tend to make queen size quilts, but I don't always finish them. I probably need to choose some smaller projects for a while and get my sewing UFOs back in control. Thanks for the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI'm still pretty new to quilting and the biggest I've made has been twin and it was a rag quilt. I'm looking forward to finishing another twin and free motion quilting it. I usually make baby/lap quilts.
ReplyDeleteI love the designs I see. I am not a super modern quilter. My eyes need white space to fully appreciate the designs and patterns. I really like this.
ReplyDeleteI usually make for specific people. The size is based on their needs, but I have never made a king and my attempt at a queen ended up being 73x73. Apparently, I need to redo the math.
What a beautiful quilt! Your version in the bright colors is gorgeous. So far I have only made Lap quilts so right now that is my favorite size
ReplyDeleteI make all different sizes but I have never made one bigger than a double. I have everything I need to make a queen size but I keep putting it off because I like to finish as quickly as possible.
ReplyDeleteI like to make baby quilts or lap quilts as they don't seem to take me as long to finish!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt and the quilting is fab!
ReplyDeleteLap quilts seem to be the one I make the most size of making them easier to manage quilting myself. The larger they are, the more I struggle with them myself.
ReplyDeleteI'd probably say lap/crib size because they're quicker (not to mention more economical) but I have a 14yo wanting a quilt for his bed & I need to make a king size own for our own, so I'd better start to enjoy larger ones!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work in that book too, well done. Tania

I usually make lap or twin size quilts. Any larger than that and they are too hard to handle.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Natalia, your quilting is an art form! I have decided to keep it small for a while and do laps, crib size while I increase my skills. Perfect name for your quilt, "Spa".
ReplyDeleteI make a lot of lap size quilts and queen size. But I confess to preferring lap size sine they're so great to give as gifts and SO much faster to make and easier to quilt! LOl

I like to make all types of quilts, but baby quilts are probably my favorite. Size is the factor, since I like to machine quilt them myself and they are easier to handle.

ReplyDeleteI like to make all size quilts. But my favorite is baby size. They are a great way to try out new blocks.
ReplyDeleteWhat an inspiring book that gives me permission to purchase fabric when I see it without having a specific pattern in mind.
ReplyDeleteI just found out that I am going to be a first time grandma. So of course I am all about baby quilts right now.
ReplyDeleteI like to make lap size or twin sized quilts. I absolutely love how well your machine quilting complements the quilt piecing!
ReplyDeleteNicola (from South Africa)

ReplyDeleteI haven't made enough to have a favorite size, but my daughter needs a twin size one now that she's moving to a big girl bed.
ReplyDeleteLove your version!!! I like queens as they are the most useful in our house.
ReplyDeleteWould love this, I mostly like to make baby quilts because they're quick!
ReplyDeleteI love to make lap sized and baby sized quilts. I'm always in too much of a hurry to see the finished quilt to make anything bigger!!

ReplyDeleteAm I too late to comment? love your quilt and the book looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, baby quilts are my favorite to make because they come together so quickly, but I take great pride in the King size quilts I have made for my sisters and my parents.
ReplyDeleteI have most recently made baby quilts for new babies in the family, but I am working on a queen size quilt for our bed. Your machine quilting is beautiful. Congratulations on getting to quilt all the quilts in the book.
ReplyDeleteI usually make twin size quilts for gifts for the grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteI've made 4 twin size quilts and 1 double and 2 queens are in progress...everything else I've made is wall hanging or table runner size as I can quilt them on my machine more easily! Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to quilting, but I think lap or twin will be the easiest to work with. Congratulations on your part in the book! Very inspiring. Thanks for the chance!

Your version of the quilt is so breath taking. I love it! I love to make twin size quilts.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy throw quilts, or smaller. At this time in my life I don't have a lot of time to actually sew, so the smaller the better!
ReplyDeleteLarge Baby quilts are my favorite...like the size to go on a toddler bed.
ReplyDeleteI like oversized twins so I generally make full size.Love your take on the spa quilt and the quilting on all the quilts is gorgeous. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilting!
ReplyDeleteSorry, I don't have a favourite size to make. I've never tackled a king yet, but have made everything from small wall quilt to large queen and love them all.
I seem to make a lot of baby sized quilts lately :) but I do think twin size is the best for snuggling.
ReplyDeleteBaby quilts!!
ReplyDeleteBaby quilts!!!
ReplyDeleteQueen size definitely because I want to USE my quilts. I'm just learning FMQ though so I may change my answer after I (finally) quilt one of my own.
ReplyDeleteBaby, lap and twin size are my favorite to make. I've made 3 larger quilts only 1 got quilted. Your quilt is so colorful I love it. ;-> Toni Anne
ReplyDeleteI like lap sized too. Something in the 60 by 80 range.
ReplyDeleteI seem to keep making queen size quilts, though lap size are so much easier!
ReplyDeleteI love to make quilts of ALL sizes, depending on who the quilt is for. I make lots of single sizes for my 4 grandchildren, queen sizes for friends with queen size beds, and even several king sizes for my son & daughter in law's king bed. And then there are the cot quilts, for the newborn babies of friends/relatives. I have the Simply Fat Quarters Book and love every single quilt in there. The instructions for the book, and for ALL It's Sew Emma patterns, are the best ever. I'm in Australia, but order from The Fat Quarter Shop all the time. I love the multi-colour version of the quilt on this site.
