Marge made this adorable purple version of the Social Butterfly quilt. When Marge sent me this quilt she told me about her granddaughter who loves purple and butterflies, so this quilt is a special gift for her granddaughter. :)
Marge loved how I had custom machine quilted the original Social Butterfly quilt and wanted me to machine quilt her quilt something similar.
Because Marge wanted this quilt to be bed sized she actually added a fourth row of butterflies, so it's a good bed size quilt.
Marge also asked me to use a very lightweight cotton batting, because the batting is so lightweight I knew that the adorable antenna's that I had planned to quilt just wouldn't pop as much as they do on the original quilt. So, we came up with the idea to quilt the antenna's in purple thread, problem solved. The antenna's pop and the quilt is still very lightweight.
I really love how this quilt turned out. It's such a fun pattern and I had so much fun machine quilting it for Marge.
In the border I machine quilted a swirly feather, I teach, step-by-step how to machine quilt this pattern in my new book; Next Steps in Machine Quilting.

That is so beautiful!!!! I had the privilege of quilting a client's quilt of the same pattern. She wanted a "light custom" stitching and this was the result....... https://treadlemusic.wordpress.com/2015/12/18/a-summery-fun-friday-finish/
ReplyDeleteIt is really pretty and I'm sure she will love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the inspiration. I was wanting to do this in blues but was unsure of how it would look. Now thanks to yours I have a better idea. ;)
