Blithe - The Quilt & A Give-Away!

I was able to sneak in a little bit of sewing just for me, just for fun over the weekend. It really doesn't happen all that often, but when it does it's so rejuvenating, and totally reminds me why I fell in love with this hobby/career.

My friends over at Fat Quarter Shop have teamed up again with Art Gallery Fabrics to create another fun quilt. This quilt is called Blithe. When I selected my fabrics I decided to go with a few prints from April Rhodes Bound collection.

You know me, I have to simplify and go with just a few colors. If you'd like to use the exact same fabrics I've used, I've listed them below.
Fabrics A, B & C: PE-408
Fabrics D & E: BOU-8043
Fabrics D & E: BOU-8043
Fabrics D & E: BOU-8043

Binding: BOU-8048
Backing: BOU-7044

This quilt was really fun, and fast to put together. The pattern calls for 6" Triangles On A Roll. I had never used this product before, so this was a fun first. Making triangles with this method the half square triangles really finish perfect.

I've teamed up with Fat Quarter Shop and they are giving one lucky reader one roll of 6" Triangles On A Roll, so you can try them out too!

To enter to win, simply leave a comment and tell me what's your favorite size of quilt block to make?

If you've never used the Triangles On A Roll, I highly recommend watching Kimberly's Blithe video, I thought it was really helpful.

  2. My favorite finished size is 12". Since I am a longarmer and have a longarm business I need to work with larger blocks to be able to make and finish my own quilts. I went one entire year not being able to make any if my own quilts. I almost went nuts. I love this pattern. It's now on my bucket list. Thank you for the opportunity to win triangles on a roll.

  3. My favorite size quilt block to make are 12 to 15 inch blocks. Makes getting to the finish line quicker!

  4. I'm not a really experienced quilter yet, but so far I like 4" blocks up to about 11" or 12" blocks. I'm learning to use my Singer Featherweight machine, so I've stuck with smaller blocks up to this point. I've found that 3" blocks are harder for me to get all the pieces to match up. Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us!

  6. I like making quilts with 9" blocks. They're big enough that the quilt goes quickly, but not so large they look clunky.

  7. I usually use 9" or 12" blocks. Thanks for the chance!

  8. when I am playing with blocks, I work on 12.5 unfinished size - I also like working with larger blocks. I don't like working with small blocks - it it finishes at 6" square, I am out.

  9. I don't know that I have a favorite. I think I have often made 12 inch blocks -- not because it is my favorite size but because that was the pattern I was making. The 12 inch blocks make the math easy. Last Christmas I gave our youngest grandchild a twin sized I Spy quilt made up entirely of 2 inch hexes and traingles. Nancy A: rangers@sbcglobal.net

  10. I love at least a 12" block! Your quilt looks great, and I love Triangles on a Roll!

  11. I tend to stick with smaller blocks around 6-8" which is probably why I mostly make smaller projects. I'd like to work with some 10-12" blocks and see what I create!

  12. I'm working on 12 inch blocks right now! Really like your color choices for your quilt.

  13. As a newer quilter, I enjoy the 10-12 inch size, but I have tried some 6 inch blocks and they are so cute, but I struggle a bit with all the seams.

  15. If I had to pick one size, I'd choose 12" finished. Enjoy the 8" size for hexies and half hexies.

  16. So pretty! I like to make 9" blocks; once in awhile I will do really large (18") just to finish a quick project.

  17. Hi...my favorite block to make is a 12 inch finished size...it's great for any quilt size...as well as table runners. Second choice would be a 6 inch block...I often scale down a 12 inch block to half size and use both in a design.

  18. I usually create blocks which are 10-12 inches. Most quilts I make are to give away so I want them fast but beautiful. I was just given a lot of scraps from someone's sewing project so I plan to make this quilt for them as a thank you.

  60. After making many mystery quilts, I would have to say and 12.5" for a 12" finished block is my favorite. Now that I have worked with larger finished blocks. I want to create a larger block so maybe a finished 16" or 18" would be fun. Thanks!!
