The Little Mermaid

Being a working mom and taking care of three little ones all day each day can be very challenging, yet rewarding.
I try to keep these cute little kiddos entertained, but sometimes their fighting wins.
Recently I was given the opportunity to review The Little Mermaid, which will be available for the first time on Blu-ray Combo Pack and HD Digital October 1st. Movies aren't always a help, but right after receiving The Little Mermaid all 3 kiddos laid right down and watched almost the whole show.
There is something about this movie that they LOVE. Every single day since receiving the movie, Peytyn, the little girl (my niece) has asked to watch Ariel, and she really loves it! Brayden & Chesney, my kids aren't quite as crazy about Ariel as Peytyn, but, they love it as well and sometimes them watching a movie is just the break that I need. :)

It's fun to be a mom/aunt to these little ones and watch them "find their own voice". Each one has different interests and wants to play differently. Peytyn's mom LOVED The Little Mermaid as a child and even named her cat Flounder. Now I think it's so cute to watch her daughter loving the same movie! Brayden is also finding his own voice, although he's just 18 months it's fun to watch him develop and do things totally different then Chensey & Peytyn. Chesney is also finding her own voice right now, just recently she began all day dual immersion kindergarten. Even though it's just been a couple weeks now it's amazing how much she's already grown. It's fun to watch her develop, learn and then take the things that she's learning and teach them to her cousin and little brother. Sadly they are all growing and before I know it they'll be parents themselves! :)

  9. I encourage my children to follow their dreams by always telling them that they can do whatever they set their mind to. I tell them they are intelligent, and that mistakes are okay as long as they learn from them and make necessary changes.

  10. Always encouraging our grandchildren to follow their dreams and do what they love... they are young and still finding their ways but they have so much energy and enthusiasm. Especially LOVE it when they go fabric shopping with me. Always tell them how much they are loved, how special they are, at that the sky is the limit!!

  14. My children are in their 20's now and we have always encouraged them to try whatever interests them...whether it be sports or clubs...but to remember that education is the most important thing. One has her MBA and the other is applying to law schools this fall.

  15. I like to give my kids the chance to do different things even if some of these things are just a tad out of my comfort zone. We took them ziplining last year. And they loved ziplining. I loved walking under the zipline and taking their pictures... ha ha. No zip for me, but they loved it..

  16. I know a professor at a university, whom teaches Naval Architecture. He knew as a little boy he wanted to build boats and to teach. He certainly followed his dream. As I grow older I love seeing how kids grow up an achieve their dreams. For me it is to continually ask them what they'd like to be, to expose them to endless opportunities and constantly encourage them that they can achieve what ever they want if they work towards their dream.

And, it is ok to place a photo (visual image) of their goal where they can see it every day and they understand that is their goal, not yours.

  17. Well, a foundation of love and acceptance is key of course...but I just let my son choose, with guidance, what he wanted to do. I gave him the tools and freedom to find his way...and today, he is 29 years old, a professional person, and doing great!! Education is critical!

  19. I try to expose the kids to lots of different things so that they can see different possibilities. I think by doing this they can hopefully find different things to dream about and do. We also offer lots of encouragement along the way and let them explore.

  20. My little boy is only 7 weeks, but I encourage my nephews to try lots of different activities. I buy them lots of educational books, toys, and art supplies so they get exposed to a diverse selection of activities. Otherwise they would probably only focus on sports...which is okay too.

  26. I have 4 kids, between the ages of 19yrs and the youngest at 17months. I homeschool them. I encourage each of them to learn what they enjoy and from those enjoyments, a lot more things are learned. Example, my oldest loves trains...and from that love he has learned a ton about geography and history. And not only history of trains, but the history of our nation too, as well as the worlds. Thanks for a great giveaway. Your kids and neice are adorable!

  27. Delightful post! I love Disney!! We were frequent visitors there when my daughter was growing up. I encouraged her to follow her dreams by exposing her to everything I could. We didn't have a lot of money, but we sure had a lot of fun adventures and learning experiences. As a single mom on a very tight shoestring, my hope was to lead by example and show her that 'the world was her oyster'!

  28. My 2 daughters are grown and 2 of them are now moms to 3 little girls! I always encouraged my girls to follow their dreams by supporting them in what they wanted to do, but also giving them a dose of reality every once in awhile. My younger son has such a sense of freedom to be himself that he breaks into dance wherever he is! I let them know that even someone who is the best at what they do, was not great at first try. I expose them to as many activities as possible, and make sure they give them a good try. Yet, if their heart isn’t in it- I don’t push. I make sure they don’t feel they have failed. That everyone is different, and valuable, in their own way.
