Urban Churndash - A Simple Sew-Along

I had so much fun with the Sparkle Christmas Sew-Along that I couldn't wait to start another one. Today I'm beyond excited to introduce you to Urban Churndash - a simple sew-along.

This fun, modern twist on the traditional Churndash quilt block is going to be so much fun to sew along with you. The finished quilt will measure 72" square. I've sketched the quilt out in solids but I'm actually trying to break out of my shell again, and make my blocks from a Moda Dottie Fat Quarter Bundle.
The colors in this bundle are so yummy I can't wait to get started!
I'm going to run this sew-along a little differently from the Sparkle Christmas Sew-Along. With that one I shared a step in the quilt-making process each day. With this one I'm going to share the steps in the process here on the blog each Monday until we've completed the quilt.

Today I'm sharing the fabric requirements and then next Monday we'll start cutting.

I'm super excited to get sewing on this quilt, I'll be sharing my progress on Facebook & Instagram using #urbanchurndashsewalong. I hope you'll join in with me.

  1. Looks cool! I guess your fabric requirements will alter if you aren't using yardage and using fat 1/4's instead.

  2. Looks really nice how you added the narrow sashing to have the blocks float.

  3. I haven't finished my star light, light tonal, or variation on the Burgoyne Surrounded quilt alongs. But gee, I have some lime and gray fabrics that would work reeeeallllly well with this pattern. Sigh.

  7. Just received the rest of my fabric. I can't wait join in with you. I am going to use a Wall flowers fat quarter bundle by Cluck Cluck Sew and a solid green instead of white. I am only going to make 7 blocks, 6 for the bed runner and 1 for a throw pillow for the bed! :)
