How to: Streak of Lightning Quilt Block - 30 Days of Sewing Quilt Blocks

Oh, my gosh! You guys, I am so excited about today's quilt block! It's so fast, and the patterns that can be created from it are so much fun! Yesterday when I shared the Confetti block I thought the quilts that were created from it were my favorite so far, but now today I think the quilts created from this block are my favorite! I am so glad I challenged myself to create these tutorials! They have done so much for my creatively! I just love it!

So, today's block is:
Streak of Lightning

Cutting:
(This block will finish at 12"x12" square, this would be a great block to use a Jelly Roll)
White fabric - 3 - 2 1/2"x2 1/2" squares
7 - 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strips
Gray floral - 1 - 2 1/2"x2 1/2" square
2 - 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strips
Gray raindrop fabric - 1 - 2 1/2"x2 1/2" square
5 - 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strips
Gray dashed fabric - 1 - 2 1/2"x2 1/2" square
1 - 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip

Sewing:
Row one:
Sew one white 2 1/2"x2 1/2" square, one floral 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip, one white 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip and one raindrop 2 1/2"x2 1/2" square.
Press toward the dark.
Row two:
Sew one floral 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip, one white 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip and one raindrop 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip.
Press toward the dark.
Row three:
Sew one floral 2 1/2"x2 1/2" square, one white 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip, one raindrop 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip and one white 2 1/2"x2 1/2" square.
Press toward the dark.
Row four:
Sew one white 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip, one raindrop 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip and one white 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip.
Press toward the dark.
Row five:
Sew one white 2 1/2"x2 1/2" square, one raindrop 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip, one white 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip and one gray dashed 2 1/2"x2 1/2" square.
Press toward the dark.
Row six:
Sew one raindrop 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip, one white 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip and one gray dashed 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip.
Press toward the dark.
Sew the six rows together.
Press.

That was another fun and fast quilt block to put together! Now, I can't wait to show you how this block can look when put together in a quilt top. Below I've got three versions, I think it's so cool to see them all.
To make this into a 96"x96" quilt you will need the following fabrics:
White fabric - 4 7/8 yards
Gray floral fabric - 1 1/2 yards
Gray raindrop fabric - 3 3/4 yards
Gray dashed fabric - 1 1/4 yards
For this fun version of the quilt I rotated every other block 180 degrees. I think it's pretty cool to see the variation by rotating the blocks.
Version number three.....yum! I need this one! I love it, a lot!  For this version I rotated every other block just 90 degrees. So stinkin' cute!
