Splendid Sampler - Focal Point Quilt Block by Natalia Bonner

I'm super excited today to introduce you to my block design for the Splendid Sampler! If you've all been following along you'll know that my block, Focal Point, is the 6th block.

However, if you're just learning about the Splendid Sampler, you'll want to visit the Splendid Sampler website to read all about this fun sew-along!

My block is a fun little block, I had so much fun making this block, and in the pattern I share more details about why I named this block "Focal Point."

When I made this fun little block, I actually pressed all of my seams open, this isn't something that I generally do, but because there are some pretty bulky points, and the block is so small, only 6" finished, I found that the block seemed to lay a little bit flatter by pressing the seams open.

You can download the free Focal Point pattern here.

Make sure to check out all of the Splendid Sampler blocks here.

  13. This block really struck me this morning. I thought about it's impact all day and I hadn't even read your design comments. Now that I have read your description I am even more inspired. I hope I can not only do your design justice with my fabrics, but recenter my focal point too.

  14. Thanks so much for this gorgeous block. I'll have to try making a whole quilt with this block, as I suspect it'll make an awesome secondary pattern! Thanks again!
