Cutting:Background,4- 3 1/2"x3 1/2" squares1- 7 1/4"x7 1/4" square cut in 1/4ths diagonally2- 3 7/8"x3 7/8" squares cut in half diagonally

Dark print,4- 3 7/8"x3 7/8" squares cut in half diagonally1- 4 3/4"x 4 3/4" square

Begin by sewing 4 background triangles to the 4 3/4" center square as shown in the image above.

Sew two dark print triangles onto the large background triangles. Make 4 of these flying geese blocks.

Sew two of the 3 1/2" squares to the ends of two of the flying geese blocks.

Now sew the remaining two flying geese blocks to the sides of the center block. As shown in the image above.

Sew the three strips together and you will have an unfinished 12 1/2" Variable Star block.Click here for other star block tutorials.
