Donna made this beautiful flower pot quilt and sent it to me for some custom quilting. A few months back I custom machine quilted a quilt from the same pattern from Nancy and I loved how the cross-hatching that I quilted turned out, so I decided to quilt Donna's quilt the exact same. :)
The quilt is just so classic, I knew that traditional type quilting really would fit best.
As I was marking my lines for cross-hatching I shared a little snippet of this quilt on instagram and facebook and had a few questions about cross-hatching, so I thought I'd answer a few of them here. I do got into a bit more detail about cross-hatching in my new book; Next Steps in Machine Quilting.
Q: What do you use to mark your quilts?
A: I prefer to use a blue Mark-B-Gone marker or a blue Water Erasable Fabric Marking Pen.
Q: When cross-hatching do you stop and start at every end?
A: No, I stitch in the ditch to travel and eliminate as many stops and stars as possible.
