Over the past year my six year old has become a little obsessed with horses, we don't actually own any horses but there are a lot of them in our area.
Around the first part of December my parents took my kids to a Christmas party, and they got to see Santa, Chesney went right up to Santa and told him that she wanted a Horse Barn. When I hear this I laughed, and thought, well I guess she'll be sad on Christmas when Santa doesn't bring her that!
Shortly after my mom got on Etsy and started looking for patterns to make a Horse Barn. I seriously thought she was crazy when she told me we should make a Horse Barn for Chesney. She ended up finding a pattern for a Horse Barn tent, made to go over a card table. Since I don't actually own a card table my mom came up with the idea to build a PVC frame and make it a little bigger.
I really need to take some great pictures of it. All four sides have applique'd animals, a horse, pig, cow, chicken and a hen. The darling barn even has a barn quilt!
It was so much fun to make a "horse barn" and it's even more fun to watch my kids play for hours on end inside.
Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!
That is just amazing!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutest thing EVER! I want one! Kids are grown, but we ranch and this would be awesome for future grandchildren! If I may ask, where did your mom find the pattern? I'm betting Chesney was over the moon. She might not have been born in a barn, but she can sleep in one! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so fun and an amazing creation by your mom.
ReplyDeleteI am sure the kids are loving it.

ReplyDeleteYou can find ANYTHING on the internet! I love that your mom schooled you! :) It's great when we can "sort of" make our kids wishes come true. That barn should be a lot easier to clean :)
ReplyDeleteReally great idea and it turned out fantastic! I was looking at dollhouse kits myself last night for my daughter. She isn't even here yet and shouldn't be due to arrive until Feb. 18th or somewhere around there!! Hey a mama can dream right?! Maybe I will get super lucky and she will want one too lol;) OR something extraordinary like a ......horse barn?!!

Brilliant! Such a wonderful idea to make a pvc barn tent. It is something the kids can play with for years and then put up until they have kids.
