Photographing a Quilt

Photographing a quilt is not always the easiest thing. But, it can the the funniest thing!
Yesterday, Kathleen, Krachel and I ventured out into the -13* to photograph Kathleens final quilt for the McCalls Quilt Design Star Challenge. It was rather humorous!
I didn't have any boots or snow clothing on so it was my job to take pictures and tell them if the quilt was hanging straight or not. I thought it was so funny I took a few pictures of the process.
We went to this big barn that is about a mile away from the studio.  There was a lot of snow, notice that it is about to Krachels' knees.
Kathleen and Krachel tried to hang the quilt on the side of the barn, it didn't take them long to realize that they were not tall enough.....
So Kathleen tried to use Krachel as a stool, I was standing on the side of the road laughing my head off.
Then a random man walked by. Light bulb turns on, so Kathleen asked the random man to help. He was so kind, he helped!
He got the quilt hanging perfectly on the barn and then left on his way.
Thank you random man, you saved the day!
Now, if I can just get Kathleen to let me share pictures of the whole quilt, it's so beautiful!

If you live in Utah, come and visit me this Saturday, January 8th 2-5pm. I will be presenting a trunk show / open house at Seasons of Home.

  5. The kindness of strangers. :) How lucky someone was walking by. I am curious though, ... did you have any trouble getting it down on your own?

  17. How did you attach the quilt to the barn? Just curious. There is a barn down the street from me and I've always wanted to do that but had no idea how to attach the quilt.
