How to: Linking Blocks Quilt Block Tutorial - 30 Days of Sewing Quilt Blocks

All right, my friends, we've made it to day 26! Only four more blocks to go!

Today's block is:
Linking Blocks
Cutting:
(This block will finish at 12"x12" square.)
White fabric - 3 - 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strips
2 - 2 1/2"x2 1/2" squares
5 - 2 7/8"x2 7/8" squares 
(draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of these)
Teal fabric - 3 - 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strips

2 - 2 1/2"x2 1/2" squares
5 - 2 7/8"x2 7/8" squares 
(draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of these)
Purple fabric - 10 - 2 7/8"x2 7/8" squares

Sewing:
Place one white and one purple 2 7/8" square right sides together.
Stitch 1/4" on both sides of the draw line.
Cut on the draw line.
Press toward the dark.
Repeat, make a total of 10 purple and white half square triangle blocks.
Repeat the same half square triangle process with the teal and purple 2 7/8" squares.
Make a total of 10 purple and teal half square triangle blocks.
Sew one white 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip, two purple and white half square triangles and one 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip together.
Press.
Sew one white 2 1/2" square, four purple and white half square triangle blocks and one 2 1/2" white square together.
Press.
Sew two purple and white half square triangle blocks, one  2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip and two purple and white half square triangle blocks together.
Press.
Sew two teal and purple half square triangle blocks, one 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip and two purple and teal half square triangle blocks together.
Press.
Sew one 2 1/2" teal block, four teal and purple half square triangles and one teal 2 1/2" block together.
Press.
Sew one 2 1/2"x4 1/2" strip, two purple and teal half square triangle blocks and one 21/2"x4 1/2" teal strip together.
Press.
Sew the six rows together.
Press.

Now, let's see it in a quilt!
To make a 96"x96" square quilt you'll need to make 64, 12" blocks and sew them together in eight rows of eight blocks.
To make this fun quilt you'll need the following fabrics:
Teal - 4 3/8 yards
Purple - 4 3/8 yards
White - 4 3/8 yards

For this fun version I rotated every other block, so cool how the background, teal and white colors, create a whole new pattern.
