Last week I spent a few days custom machine quilting this gorgeous quilt for Laura. Laura asked me to custom quilt this quilt for her, and just have fun with it. The quilt is gorgeous, and I knew it was the perfect quilt to play with and add in some secondary patterns created by the machine quilting.
Look closely and you'll see that in the blue triangles I chose to use three different patterns and make them create a secondary pattern through the quilt. This is one of my favorite things to do when machine quilting.
Generally when I get ready to start machine quilting a quilt I look to see if I can see any secondary patterns, and how I can play on those. This quilt is a perfect example of that. By quilting three different patterns in the blue triangles it really draws your eye to those and through the quilt.
I also chose four different border fillers and quilted them the same on each block through the quilt. This gives the quilt an added bit of texture.
Laura had some Quilters Dream Orient batting, and it's just as yummy as all of the other Quilters Dream Battings with a gorgeous drape.
Thanks for letting me machine quilt your beautiful quilt Laura!
