Emmy made this beautiful hand applique quilt. Emmy is my grandma, and I remember watching her carry these beautiful blocks around with her as she hand stitched each one of them. They are beautiful and her work is amazing!
Emmy has always loved hand quilting, and the hand quilted look, so when she asked me to machine quilt this gorgeous quilt I knew that it needed to have a hand quilted look.
I decided to machine quilt cross-hatching in the background of each of the blocks, outline all of the applique and then stitch straight lines in all of the sashing and borders.
I used Quilters Dream Wool batting for the extra loft, and really add to that antique, hand quilted look.
I love machine quilting, but being able to machine quilt a quilt like this, that I know my grandma put so much time and effort into is so special to me.
Thanks for letting me machine quilt your beautiful quilt grandma!!
When I machine quilted this quilt I used some of my favorite notions;
