Today's BASICS quilt block tutorial is the Square in a Square Quilt Block.
To make a 6" block you will need to cut the following fabrics:
White fabric
1- 4 3/4"x4 3/4" square
Green fabric
2- 3 7/8"x3 7/8" squares, cut in half diagonally to create 4 triangles.
To make a 9" block you will need to cut the following fabrics:
White fabric
1- 6 7/8"x6 7/8" square
Green fabric
2- 5 3/8"x5 3/8" squares, cut in half diagonally to create 4 triangles.
To make a 12" block you will need to cut the following fabrics:
White fabric
1- 9"x9" square
Green fabric
2- 6 7/8"x6 7/8" squares, cut in half diagonally to create 4 triangles.
Sewing:
Sew one green triangle to opposite sides of one white square.
Press toward the green fabric.
**TIP**
To center these correctly it may help to fold the white block in half and finger press to mark the center of the block. Fold it both ways, horizontal and vertical to mark the centers of all four sides.

Fold the green triangles in half and finger press the center.
Before sewing the green and white blocks together match up the centers.
Sew the remaining two triangles to the top right and lower left sides of the white square.
Press toward the green fabric.
