Today's BASICS quilt block tutorial is the Floating Plus Quilt Block.
White fabric
4- 2 1/2"x2 1/2" squares
1- 1 1/2"x10" strip
Gray fabric
1- 2 1/2"x2 1/2" square
1- 1 1/2"x10" strip
To make a 9"x 9" block you will need to cut the following fabrics:
White fabric
4- 3 1/2"x3 1/2" squares
1- 2"x14" strip
Gray fabric
1- 3 1/2"x3 1/2" square
1- 2"x14" strip
To make a 12"x12" block you will need to cut the following fabrics:
White fabric
4- 4 1/2"x4 1/2" squares
1- 2 1/2"x18" strip
Gray fabric
1- 4 1/2"x4 1/2" square
1- 2 1/2"x18" strip
Sewing:
Sew together one light and one dark strip.
Press toward the gray fabric.
Cut the fabric into four pieces, for the 6" block you'll cut it into 4 - 2 1/2" units, the 9" block will be cut into 4 - 3 1/2" units and the 12" block will be cut into 4 - 4 1/2" units.
Sew one white square, one strip unit and one white square together.
Press toward the strip unit.
Repeat, make two of these units.
Sew together one strip unit, one gray square and one strip unit.
Press toward the center dark square.
Sew the three rows together.
Press.
