Today's BASICS quilt block tutorial is the Four Patch Quilt Block.
To make a 6" block you will need to cut the following fabrics:
White fabric
2- 3 1/2"x3 1/2" squares
Gray fabric
2- 3 1/2"x3 1/2" squares
To make a 9" block you will need to cut the following fabrics:
White fabric
2- 5"x5" squares
Gray fabric
2- 5"x5" squares
To make a 12" block you will need to cut the following fabrics:
White fabric
2- 6 1/2"x6 1/2" squares
Gray fabric
2- 6 1/2"x6 1/2" squares
Sewing:
Sew one gray and one white square together.
Press toward the dark fabric.
Repeat. Make two of these units per block.
Sew the two gray and white units together, alternating fabric placement.
Press
**Strip piecing option**
If you plan to make several four patch blocks, cut two strips, the width of fabric by the width of desired block size. So, for the 6" block you will cut a white strip 3 1/2"x width of fabric and one gray strip of fabric 3 1/2"x width of fabric.

Sew the two strips together.
Press toward the gray fabric.
Cut the strip apart every 3 1/2".
Then sew the units together to create the Four Patch blocks.
Press.
