How to: Flower Star Quilt Block - 30 Days of Sewing Quilt Blocks- Star Version!

Spring is in the air here in southern Utah, although I hear my family and friends in northern Utah got a bunch of snow last night, I'm so glad I moved south. :) Anyways, what's more fitting than a Flower Star quilt block tutorial on a nice spring day?

2- 2 7/8"x2 7/8" squares

Pink fabric:

Green fabric:
2- 2 7/8"x2 7/8" squares, draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on these.

Sew along the diagonal line.
Trim 1/4" on the outside of the draw line.
Press toward the darker fabric.
Repeat, make four of these units.

Sew the units from the previous steps together.
Make four of these units.
Put these aside.

Sew one pink and one white triangle from the 5 1/4" square together.
Press toward the darker fabric.
Sew one pink triangle from the 2 7/8" square to the pink and white triangle.
Press toward the darker fabric.
Repeat, make four of these units.

Sew on green and white unit, one pink and white unit and one green and white unit.
Press.
Repeat, make two of these units.

Sew one pink and white unit, one gray 4 1/2" square and one pink and white square.
Press.

Sew the three rows together.
Press.

To make this into a 96"x96" quilt you'll need the following fabrics:

Pink fabric:
3 7/8 yards

Gray fabric:
1 1/8 yards

Green fabric:
3 1/2 yards

White fabric:
4 1/4 yards

I love this version, it's cute, and it's kinda cool that the flower disappears.
I had to see what it would look like with a color variation, to me switching every other block to yellow really makes the flower pattern pop!

Hope you all enjoy!
