Press.
Repeat, make two of these units.

Sew the two units from the previous step to opposite sides of the green 8 1/2" square.

Sew one white 2 1/2" square, one half square triangle block one flying geese block one half square triangle block and one 2 1/2" white square.
Press.
Repeat, make two of these units.

Sew the three rows together.
Press.

Now, to make this into a 96"x96" quilt you'll need the following fabrics:
Green fabric:
7 1/2 yards

White fabric:
4 1/2 yards
This is the cool quilt that comes from this block, to me, the white really stands out, but then check out the version below where I made every other block dark gray, the stars really pop! So cool what fabric placement can do to a quilt.
Hope you all enjoy!

  1. I just purchased a nifty tool for making half square triangles easier and this would be a fabulous quilt block to try it on! I really like the quilt with two colors, but I am thinking this would be fun to have one main color and every other block to be made up entirely of scraps. Thank you for sharing each and every one of your quilt blocks. They are fabulous! Have a great day!
