If you're hanging out with me over on Instagram or Facebook you'll recognize this quilt. I shared it there yesterday. I was so excited to get started custom machine quilting this quilt for Kate.
Now that Chesney is in school I try really hard to treat my quilting like a real "job," I generally only work while she is at school, so I can still be a mom. However, sometimes I get so excited about quilts that I just can't help myself. This quilt was one of those. I just couldn't stop quilting.
I stayed up late last night quilting on it and was able to finish it up this morning.
The photo above is the photo I shared yesterday on Instagram and Facebook before I got started, I knew that I could really bring this quilt to life with my quilting, even though it's beautiful without.
Kate is made this quilt for her brother, it's a gift. How awesome is that! Because it's for a man she wanted to keep the quilting pretty masculine, so I did a lot of ruler work, I think it's safe to say I kept it pretty masculine. :)
I created an arrow through the quilt, I just wanted to add a little bit of detail, but not really take away from the quilt itself. If you look closely you can see that I machine quilted horizontal point to point diamonds on the left side of the arrow and on the right side of the arrow I quilted vertical point to point diamonds. I love that by alternating directions of the diamonds it gives the quilt some movement.
I know that someone will ask, so I'll just answer the question first, I used two different thread colors, #419 and #442, bot So Fine! by Superior Threads. I used one layer of Quilters Dream Poly Deluxe Batting.
Thanks for letting me machine quilt your gorgeous quilt Kate!
Fabulous! I absolutely love the texture you've created!
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt! I saw it before quilting and thought it was amazing but you just put it right over the top.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those quilts that look just fine as a top...and then you add your quilting and it changes the whole perspective on the quilt. It keeps changing from a simple HST to a Diamond to a trapezoid (I think that's the word I am looking for).
ReplyDeleteYour design just makes this beauty a step above!
Your quilting made a nice quilt top into a spectacular quilt!
ReplyDeleteAgain and again I am amazed at the great effect your quilting has for each quilt! For me you are making them alive :-)
ReplyDeleteBest regards,
Kathrin
Wow, the quilting on this is wonderful. It really compliments the color/design.
ReplyDeleteI really love it and I'm sure it is going to be treasured.
