Sisters 10 Quilt - Custom Machine Quilting by Natalia Bonner

Yesterday was a great day! So many great things happened here, I just couldn't help but be happy! One of the exciting things that happened....I finished up the machine quilting on this gorgeous quilt that Abby made.

I love it when the quilt has a story, and this one has a great one.

Abby attended Saint Mary's College, a womens' college across the street from Notre Dame, Saint Mary's brought her together with 9 amazing friends, and the Sister's Ten quilt seemed quite fitting for that. So, when Abby asked me to machine quilt this quilt for her she asked me to include a french cross in the quilting, she pretty much gave me the go-ahead to quilt it however I wanted. So, when I asked her if I could quilt feathers in her quilt, she gave me permission, as long as they weren't too traditional. Deal! I don't think I'm very good at keeping feathers traditional so I was super excited!

The quilt is beautiful and with all that negative space I really had room to play with feathers and add some fun detail, I love free-motion quilting feathers!
I stuck with #401 So Fine! thread by Superior Threads and used Quilters Dream Poly Deluxe batting, my favorite combination.

Below are a couple of fun pictures I shared on Instagram before I got started with the quilting and just after I started the quilting.
