Come What May- Custom Machine Quilting by Natalia Bonner

Last week I spent a few days machine quilting this cool quilt for my Canadian friend Karen. The quilt has a fun story behind it, it's an original design by Karen and the most "improv" she's ever made.

When Karen sent me this quilt she told me to machine quilt it however I wanted. Because the quilt is so crisp and clean I really wanted to keep with the straight clean line look, however, I could not help myself, I had to add in some feathers, and since the quilt is her "improv" quilt, I thought they kinda played into that feeling.
I also thought it would be fun to bring the shapes that are in the centers of the blocks out into the white, negative space.
I love the tiny bit of subtle detail that they add to the quilt.

I couldn't help but share this picture over on instagram and facebook before I started with the machine quilting. It's always so much fun to see how much the quilts can come to life with machine quilting.

Thanks for letting me quilt your gorgeous quilt Karen!
